Verizon has begun OTA updates for the HTC Droid Eris, giving owners Android 2.1, the newest firmware available from Google, even before Motorola Droid users have gotten it. After reading some of the dedicated Android sites, seems like this update is Bad Info. Here is an email reply posted on one of those sites:

Hello #####,

At this time the update to 2.1 does not appear to be available. As soon as the update is ready it will be delivered as an OTA(over the air) update. Currently the only update available for the Eriscan be found here:

The new MR4 update is being leaked across the Web, however most sites offer no instructions for users on installation procedures.
