I spoke to Microsoft who sent me to Norton, who sent me to Miscrosoft who then told me to join this forum, i have had enough now! and just want sum1 to help me out. :)
[color=red]All i want to do is connect my XBOX 360 to my PC.
Simple eh? ...nope![/color]
So i have connected everything up ok,
Wireless signal from my pc to router: ALL OK
Wired ethernet from router to xbox: ALL OK
Network Sharing found the 360: YES
So i go to enter in my 8 diget code, and i get
"WINDOWS MEDIA CENTRE HAS DETECTED ONE OTHER FIREWALL IN ADDITION TO THE BUILT IN WINDOWS. THIS CAN PREVENT EXTENDERS FROM WORKING PROPERLY."
So i checked it out and I AM USED NORTON SECURITY 2008.
On this i go to PERSONAL FIREWALL AND PROGRAMME CONTROL in a bid to search for any missing files. ie
However Mcrdsvc.exe and MCXNetTw.exeare both not shoing up in the Firewall Program Rules. They are not in either of the suggested directorys (eg System32 etc) The others i have set to ALLOW!.
CAN I GET THESE FILES FROM ANYWHERE?
Going back to MEDIA CENTRE
if i just select I HAVE ALREADY SET MY FIREWALL and YES to do i want to share all types of media. IT GOES WRONG!
Computer configures setting ok (TICKED)
but failed to progress and i get the message
SETUP COULD NOT FIND YOUR EXTENDER - VERIFY THE FOLLOWING:
YOUR EXTENDER IS CONNECTED OR ON THE SAME NETWORK AS THIS COMPUTER (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?)
OR...SETUP KEY IS INCORRECT (Its not, tried 100 different 8 digit codes)
OR YOUR FIREWALL IS SET UP TO ALLOW UPnP DISCOVERY. ?????.
I AM REALLY STUCK GUYS AND I NEED SOME GOOD HELP PLEASE
Like i said, my pc is showing in VIEW COMPUTERS AND DEVICES and i have ALLOWED media fire sharing.
I GUESS I WANT TO KNOW
1, how do i find or get the missing EXTENDER files on my pc.
2, what do i need to do to configure norton 2008.
3, how do i get it to dam work..arrrh
yup, completely remove norton, and use the norton uninstall tool and your xbox will see media center, altrenativley you could try an programme called PS3 media center, its simple to set up and pretty simple to use, I use it to share media between my 360, PS3 and my pc :)
