Just wondering why the drive noise sounds different when playing backup games as opposed to original copy.

So the firmware enable the drive to read the copy discs and I think the data is organized the same way as the original copy, so why does it sound like the drive is having a hard time reading the back ups?

is the distance between tracks different between backup and original such that the firmware have to force the drive to read in an unusual way that caused the drive to give different noise?

It's probably because it's a backup that it sounds different. Like the discs that manufacture companies use, are totally different from us going and buying Verbatim discs. That could be why the drive sounds different when reading a backup compared to an original.

The OP could be using cheap disks.

I've never noticed much of a difference between verbs & originals.
