I have a couple of home videos that my uncle had turned into DVDs and sent to me, but I can't get them to play. My Playstation tells me it's corrupted. On my computer it acts as if there's no disc in the drive. I let someone else try it on their computer and it worked fine, he suggested that it may be a codec problem, so I tried to download a codec pack for Windows Media Player that included the file format they're in, .vob, still no luck though. My computer just has a DVD drive, not DVD-R, I was thinking that may be the problem? I would be happy just getting it to work on the computer if it isn't possible to use on the Playstation.

Try using DVD Shrink to convert the file into an ISO file then burn it to disc. It will then become a regular DVD. Of course you will need a DVD burner. You can get a good one for pretty cheap now. Try ebay or newegg.com. Hope this helps.

It may be that he never Finalized the DVD's after brunning them. I burnt my VHS tapes to DVD and did not finalize them. They would only work in the burner. Finaly figured out what was going on. Finalized all of them and they work on my other players now.
