ok so here goes. after looking up info for about hmm 19hours. i still couldnt figure out why my lite on dg 16d2s 09c ver 83850c wasnt showing up in jungle flasher. so i switched to dosflash64 v1.8. i have everything set up properly. i have a ck3 connectivity kit with a ck3 probe. the molex is hooked up to it fine. the probe is hooked up to the liteon drive just fine. the sata cable is hooked into a via card that supports the 6421 chipset. the drivers for the via card are uninstalled like they are supposed to. then i hooked the ck3 to the usb on the computer. now for some reason when using dosflash it wouldnt read the drive. it just said "no known flash chip on this port" so i went to liteon dvdkey to try and get the key and at the end it said it didnt work after wasting my time trying to figure out the problem i still didnt. so i tried to do it again except i hit liteon erase. and it erased the drive. now i dont know what to do.. someone please help....

You need to install the drivers for the via card. Jungle flasher won't see the port without it installed. You delete a file depending on what windows you have to flash the drive. Mine was the viamraid.sys file, but yours could be different.

Same thing happened to me, and it's a biotch to get it done. I used dosflash 1.8 to write. You need to get it into vendor mode, so find a tutorial on dosflash and try that out. Your drive isnt bricked, so dont worry about that.

I've been waiting patiently for someone to interject but it seems as if I might have to be the bearer of bad news.

If you successfully erased your Lite-On's original firmware (as indicated by the drive now out responding to any normal functions such as ejecting) then it's pretty much a wrap for your 360. This is because the unique DVD key that is found in the drive's stock firmware has been erased. The DVD key is essential for the drive to play games.

You can recover the drive using dosflash but if you did not extract the DVD key from the drive before erasing it ... then you're pretty much out of luck. Once you manage to flash either stock or iXtreme lite-on firmware back to the drive WITHOUT the dvd key , it will only be good for playing DVDs and NOT games.

Sorry :-(

I'm 100% positive that your console will only be an expensive DVD player (once you get it working again) if you did not extract the following files before successfully erasing the drive's firmware.

- Dummy.bin
- Identity.bin
- Inquiry.bin
- Key.bin
- Serial.bin

Note: There are two versions of the 83850c model drive. One was manufactured before 08/09 and can be flashed using the 6421 chipset alone.

The other was manufactured after 08/09 and requires soldering and cutting traces. I gather from the info you provided you had the later version which would explain why you were having such a difficult time flashing it.

No because that drive will have a different key to the one thats on your xbox, if you have a JTaggable xbox, i believe you can still get the key ? I don't know much about that though.

No, because those files I mentioned in my previous post are necessary for the drive to function as a game playing unit.

The dummy.bin file contains the console's unique dvd key. The dvd key needs to be present in the drive so the 360 can recognize it for game play.

If it was erased ... then you know the rest.
