DVD-RW compatability problems

I have an external sony DRX-500ULX burner capable of burning DVD-R and DVD+R. My problem is that my DVD-RW discs are incompatable with all DVD drives, apart from the sony drive that I burnt them on. My DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD+RW discs all work fine so I can't get my head around whats happening. I use Veritas DLA to burn the discs and have tried using Verbatim, TDK and Sony DVD-RW discs to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
