please if anybody is out there still trying to mod their systems i would highly appreciate some help. i just recently bought a refurbished 360 which contained a 0047dj hitatchi drive. i did a bunch of research on how to mod it (not concerned about xlive). the program i used is slax to try to put my xbox into mode b. FAILED!!!!! I was able to boot from cd just fine, slax ran, detected, but i never seen the "spitting up disc". so to me i failed somewhere. all my plugs were correct, and in my bios i saw my hitatchi drive present and on. so i did more research and found people have the same problem. i would like to flash my drive successfully so i can play backups. but even after a bunch more reading and vids i still find myself stuck. any help at all again is much appreciated, thanx in advance...
Also, try connecting your drive to different sata ports a few times. My motherboard only likes to flash drives when they're connected to the primary sata connector. If I try on the others, I may only get halfway through the flashing process before it freezes...and have to restart...it's a pain when I forget. I typically have the hard drive with my OS on the primary connector.
Also, make sure you download the jungleflasher firmwarepack from xbins, which the jungleflasher pdf states is crucial for hitachi drives.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
