Hello Folkz

Greetings from India. I just purchased a new Xbox 360 and i am kind of a noob when it comes to exploring it's unofficial possibilities. As we all know the original games are way expensive, a friend of mine told me about a way where you do something to your xbox with particualar set of softwares so dat you can actually enjoy games from the internet on to it without opening the console. i tried googling it but there seem to be too many misleading results. this site just gave some appropriate ones and so..thought i would explore here. Any help would be very much appreciated if you folkz shed some light on the same topic. A tutorial would just make my day.
