Here is the deal: I know the benq is the way to go for as close to 1:1 as you can get, and that it is safer for online play. But, my PC is older and doesnt have SATA, and my work area doesnt have the space to always have the PC open, so I got a preflashed Kreon drive from ebay.

I know that if I make a backup with Kreon it will only have ssv1 and will make my xbox unsafe for Live, but I read somewhere that a program will patch kreon ripped games with the ssv2. I also dont really plan on using this 360 on live, so it really isnt too big of an issue.

My question is: Taking for a fact that I will only ever use the kreon drive, what is the best method/safest method for ripping games? Is there a program I should run the ISO through after I let Xbox backup creator rip the game? Something that will verify a good rip, or something that will patch it with ssv2?

A simple program list will be enough, I think I can figure it out from there. There are just so many different "how do I rip" threads that it is a bit confusing/overwhelming to read through it all with everyone talking about how much better benq is etc. I am not going to use a benq, so I just want as much kreon info as I can get in a single thread.

Thanks for the help.

Also, have you guys ever come across what seems like a microsoft spoofed drive? I got a microsoft refurbished pro from gamestop, and I took it to a guy to guy flashed. Jungleflasher said the drive didnt match the serial number, so it seemed like ms spoofed a drive to make it work. Eventually the guy was able to flash the drive, but it was strange, and he said it was the frist time he ever saw that particular error message in jungle flasher.

Also, I didnt know any of the drives needed to have traces cut, and switches put on it before you could flash it. Is that a result of MS trying to prevent the flashing? It was quite a production to get this thing flashed. Im glad I took it to a shop rather than letting a buddy do it. A lot of cutting and fine soldering.

You would need to use the standard methods for extracing the ISO from the Kreon drive. Afterwards you would need to check with ABGX, you can inject the SS2 files AFAIK with ABGX but its quite complicated. I have heard rumours that this process will come easier with the next release of ABGX.

Using Abgx to patch the iso to ssv2 is easy as long as you have the ssv2 files that is.

Here is a guide on manually patching ssv1 to ssv2 in 12 simple steps

1:Go to _http://abgx360.net/verified.php, use the blue number on the right hand side of your game to obtain an SS and DMI combination (still must match the XEX of your game)

2:Load ABGX360, Go to the "Manually Patch or Extract Files" tab,

3:Tick "Patch even if stealth passes

4:Tick the Patch SS, & Patch DMI, then browse for the files you just downloaded.

5:Go to the options tab and UN-tick "Verify if stealth passes

6:Click "LAUNCH", The files should be patched and will say "patched successfully" for each one.

7:FINALLY, load the ABGX360 default settings again, (reselect the game iso if needed)

8:Misc tab, make sure "Add if it doesnt exist or isnt valid" is selected for Splitvid

9:Options tab, make sure "Verify if stealth passes" is checked

10:UN-tick any boxes still ticked under "Manually Patch or Extract Files"

11:(the above should really all be enabled as default settings if they are not already. If you had to change to any of them, hold CTRL then press S to save your settings and choose "Default"

12:Click "LAUNCH", If the game now shows SSv2, ALL CRC's Match, and you get Verification Successful at the end of the test, AND it says SPLITVID VALID (or added), YOU NOW HAVE SSv2 and SPLITVID, YOUR GAME MATCHES OUR RETAIL RIP, so you are good to go.

Thanks to NADS for guide.

You could've just got the SATA & shoved it in an external housing

If your not going online there's little point in patching,as for abgx it's only as good as the updated data base it has then again i don't go online either so don't bother running games thru it not that'd it matter since it usually doesn't have the latest patches for new release games,so 138 xbox 360 games later with the kreon sammy all run fine including the most recent rip of bioshock 2,since you've got a 2nd hnd unit the only issue will be if it reads ok,you may also find assuming the 360 disc is ok that you might get read errors, try dropping the read speed back in xbox backup more so if the disc has scratches
