bad company 2 won't install req update to play

When i try to play battlefield bad company 2 it gives the "update to play this game" screen, i choose update, the box goes through the motions, then restarts and the same screen pops up...
I took off the hdd and the game loads no problem, so i figured the burn was good. Anyone having this problem? Any ideas?
(banned xbox,8955 dashboard, Liteon drive with iexteme 1.51, so i patch games to wave 3 with 360 wave patcher, singapore verbs burned with imgburn)

I just had the same thing happen, aka it said "Game must be updated to play!" and so I did it. it took quite a while like 15 or 20 minutes downloading at 120k/sec so its quite some sizeable "required" update for those on slower connections still.
Afterwards, it finished and said "Do you want to launch now?" so it worked for me. Might i suggest if you have, lets just say, "less than legal" version of the game, that you dont forget to copy/rename back the original game EXE before running the update. Silly boy, ill bet almost certainly thats what you did, you left a nice big fat "suspicious" exe sitting there in place of the original EXE hehe.
Also take note when the game makes shortcuts on your desktop and in the start menu, if you view the properties, its actually linking to BFBC2Updater.exe, not the game EXE!
This is why its asking you to update.... instead, edit those shortcuts and make them point to the actual game.exe, and in the future you wont have problems with annoying automatic updates before launching.
Very sneaky on the game developer's part I must say, because most and i mean MOST people out there will never check their shortcuts and discover this. They will just assume the game EXE itself does the update checks which is not true.
Anyway good luck with the game.
Im still waiting for these damn gamedevs to release the promised FOV fix, which they said would come with the first retail patch. Well I believe I just installed a certain first retail patch... and NO FOV FIX! BIG SURPRISE! I cant play this game until "vomit mode" is fixed.
Oh and one more thing, I was already in the 3rd mission, and after the update my saves vanished or no longer work. So have to start it over now. Yeah, some "required" update this is! super lame!

When you patch games to a lower wave you actually remove the update files, that is why the xbox keeps looping it can't find the update.
You may need to rent the game so that you can use the original to update.

Oh jesus, he was talking about Xbox update? haha, *NEVER MIND* in that case, theres not much you can do to fix THAT issue (playing it on console), is there? ;x
p.s. i came across this thread via google searching about the forced update for the PC version!

i tried to take the update from the game iso and install it on a usb drive, but it didn't work... on closer inspection the system update files were the same 8955 dash update. any thoughts on what the update i need is? or where i can find it? why would it be only on a retail copy?

2 opitons.
go to xbox.com support and download the update to USB or CD.
Find a new retail game like L4D2 and boot it, let it install the update.

Damn i suck at this game however ccclx version ssv2 patching works just fine and dandy in my falcon lite.
-Only thing that would be great is an unlock code so i can get the 2 extra maps. Is there a universal code? (probably not)
No time for Leap frog!!!
