Ok, I have a 60GB CECHA00 1st Gen PS3. I am wanting to install Fedora 12 to my PS3 as my Other OS. I have downloaded the x86/x64 Desktop Environment ISO and burned to CD as I have heard the 64bit kernel is the only thing working w/ F12 atm. I have absolutely no clue what to do or how to do it, I've looked around bing, and google, and the only thing that comes up is older versions of Fedora, Core 5, 8, etc. I tried following a C8 guide but when I got into kboot, the things it told me to type in to boot the Install only returned error after error. It has to be easier than this?

It has been a long time since I installed fedora. I used fedora CORE 5, of which I'm not sure that it is exactly the same as fedora 5. It has some add-ons to improve compatibilaty with the core processor.

Using Ubuntu might be easier....
But it depends on the purpose of the Other OS.
I have also noticed that the Kboot programmes are not all the same.
I advise to use a version of Kboot and Fedora that can be found on the same site.

I'm mainly wanting to use it as a emulator to be able to play PS1, GBA, etc. What are the differences between Fedora and Ubuntu? I definitely need something with a GUI.

Both ditros have a GUI.
Ubuntu uses a GUI for instalation as well, if video resolution is good enough. I think from at least version 8.10 and up. Fedora Core 5 doesn't.

Bare in mind that Ubuntu isn't known for its speed on a PS3. Since Fedora Core was developed for multiple processors it should run better.

I run Fedora on my PS3 (same model as you) and Ubuntu on my PC.
In my experience however, switching both for comparison made no real difference.

Well what's the difference between 12 and 5 of Fedora?? I've never really understood much of Linux as I haven't ever delved into it, though I am very technically profound with Wii, 360, and Windows as well as the hardware components of computers, been working with em all for about 10 years.

I don't know the exact differences. Mainly compatibility, more user friendly, faster, better equiped. Most distros are supported for a short period only, like a half year or so max. Which means that Fedora 5 is 3 years old. Since its open source developers are continiously improving and giving new names to software which is only an improved version of the old distro.

I'm no Linux expert either. I can tell you what I know only. For more info, I suggest you browse the web. Every thing is there, you only have to compile the lots of info to suit your needs.

Yellow Dog is probably the easiest...OtherOS is about all it is used for, so it is setup for the PS3 right from the start; it is easier than installing Windows 7.

Bare in mind that minimum resolution of YDL is 720P.
I installed YDL on my PS3 before my new TV arrived and it was not pretty. I assume your TV is at least 720 so there won't be any problem.

I just took a glance at the latest release, and it looks nice.
