I know that it is possible to run a xbox off a computer power supply but i can't seem to find any good guides. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

ah, no. You need to make sure you're running the correct power supply for your 360 or it will overheat. Not sure why anyone would want to try to run a pc power supply.

Ah, yes. I know i need that. I have a console without any power or video cables. I have found a store that sells the video cables but not the power cables. so thats why i would want to run a pc power supply.

Thanx wooly. That looks way to complicated for me. Do u perhaps know of a simpler tut? Or one that gives more detail step by step?

There looks to be quite a few tutorials out there:

be sure your power supply gives you enough amperage to the 12v line (ideally 16.5A or more) and you should be alright.

yes ATX will work, but they make different WATT power supplies for a reason. I've never seen below a 230W ATX power supply. I think you'll toast your board.

the different wattages are because different systems have different power usages. The newer xboxs dont need as much power as the old ones so the 175w PSU is sufficient but a 203w will work just fine. It's not like all 203w is being forced into the system or something, that's just the max power it will supply. The opposite is not true though: you cant use a 175w PSU on a system that requires 203w. So you're actually better off with the biggest PSU you can find really (as I said ideally one that can supply 16.5A or more to the 12v line).

Guess I'm lost. An ATX is just as much if not more than an actual xbox power adapter. Guess if you have one laying around that's one thing. You still need the xbox cables to use the power supply.

Not really, you could get some sort of pins into the back of the xbox. You would be have to be careful though and not really a job for a n00b.
