My controller was blinking the red light from the beginning and now won't come on at all. It works when it is plugged up but the light still blinks and the it dies within a few minutes? Is that a bad controller or bad USB cable? Just trying to find out before I try to replace them. It's only a few months old if that matters. Thanks.

Well, where'd you buy it from? Was it a brand new controller? If not, it could be the battery's dead (ie someone used it, got bored, bought a new one, "returned" the old one).

If it's new, Sony MIGHT be able to replace it for you; it might have a warranty... doubt it, though.

Since it's working with the USB cable, I don't think it's a problem with the USB cable. Try plugging the cable into other controllers/devices, and try plugging the controller into other USB cables, just to make sure.
