I sent my 360 to get repaired by microsoft, they returned it unrepaired and said that the damage was caused by something not related to the 360. I suspect this has something to do with the x-clamps that I did on it a while ago. I was kinda surprised because I have sent another x-clamped 360 to them before and they gave me a refurbed one for that. However, it is the only reason I can think of. Anyways, I posted this on another forum and they said that it's likely my 360 is gonna be banned now. Does anyone know if that's true? They also said that any other 360 I have on that account is gonna get banned as well, this I HIGHLY doubt, but the original comment kinda scares me. So ya, does anyone know if my 360 is gonna be banned now?
Also, does anyone know how I can check if it's banned, it has rrod, so I can't turn it on to figure it out. I need another method.
One more thing, I plan to mod this 360 (after getting it re-flowed and re-balled for about $60 from someone in a nearby city). I plan to keep it strictly offline, I have one that I use online and I plan to get games that I play online for it. However, for something like Dante's Inferno, or Assassin's Creed, I wanna use my modded console. Anyways, the whole process seems kinda ok for me, I plan to do this by switching the hdd between the 360's. However, if the offline one is banned, what will happen to my account if I play on it?

I personally doubt that they would ban a xbox for the xclamp fix. If the drive has been modded, then its a different story.

drive was actually modded, however, I took off the mod and put back the original firmware thing before I sent it in. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to tell if it had been modded. Should I try sending it into microsoft again?

You might already be flagged for a ban anyway if your drive was modded. Wouldn't bother sending it in again, they will have marked it as "warranty voided" anyway.

I doubt it's been flagged, this console was modded over a few years ago and hasn't been online since I got it about a year ago. If it was flagged, it would have been banned already. I'm fairly certain microsoft won't take offers to fix banned consoles. Since I was able to request a repair, I'm assuming it wasn't flagged. However, now that they sent it back to me saying it has been tampered with, i'm afraid they may have just flagged it. I somewhat doubt it, but it is possible. I'm mainly looking for stories where people have been in a situation similar to mine and microsoft has banned their console after trying to get a repair. So far, I can't find any.
Also, as I mentioned above, I removed the hack before I sent it into microsoft. I'm almost 100% sure that they can't tell for that sort of thing if it's been removed. On top of that, I hear stories of microsoft fixing hacked consoles anyways and nothing happens to those people. If I have been flagged, it had to be for a different reason.

If it's the forum i think you're talking about then no one even mentioned any other 360 you have on that account getting banned, i think you'll find that he said "blacklist" your address ( as in where you live ).
see original post below
If you sent one before then chances are they blacklisted your address once they got round to opening the last one.
You ask if stupidity is the right word for sending in an x-clamped console...
I personally think it is the correct assumption in these cases to be fair.
Nothing personal but you have to agree it is pretty stupid to do that and expect it to get fixed.
Also the guy that said you would get banned is highly regarded as he knows what he's talking about, if you send an xbox 360 thats been xclamp fixed it's obvious that you've opened the console in effect voiding the warranty, also seeing as you've opened the console they could very well ban the console as it's obviously been tampered with.
See original post below
lmao, ofcourse microsoft wont fix it if its had its xclamps removed,
Im surprised they didnt send you a bill for wasting their time lol
I wouldn't bother sending it in again as they will have now voided your warranty and blacklisted the console
and it also may even be banned from live or soon will be!
Whether a fix works depends on the error itself and how bad it is and also how good of a job the guy does.
You should think about getting it re-flowed or even better re-balled.
And
Its pretty much a certainty that it will be banned since you have opened and modified the hardware and then basically rubbed it in M$'s face :D
If it was still in warranty why on earth did you get it xclamp fixed in first place?
That was just stupid and the even more stupid was to send it in to M$ and expect them to fix it
after it had been opened and xclamps removed and replaced with bolts/washers and thermal paste replaced.
The consoles themselves are dirt cheap nowadays so just cut your losses and get a new one ;)

All i can say is TL, can't give the full name as it would be against forum rules regarding piracy, if you know what the initials TL mean then you know the site lol

AFAIK, its OK to mention a site such a demonoid.com, thepiratebay.org etc, as log as you dont directly link to a torrent.

Naw, you can talk about torrents and torrent sites all day long. It states that in the rules. What we can not to is post direct links to torrents, etc.
For example, you post a link that I click on and the "Open / Save" dialog box opens, or the link takes me directly to a page that has "download here".
Quote: 5. -> PIRACY AND LINKING TO PIRATED MATERIAL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN IF YOU DO THIS <-
Quote: Case: Discussion about pirated content and piracy, such as converting (downloaded) video and/or audio files to DVD/AudioCD/whatever format. PERMITTED
Case: Discussion about copy protection circumvention in general (extracting encrypted content, such as DVD movies, compact discs, copy protected console and computer software, using existing software). PERMITTED
Case: Links to sites offering possibly pirated content (including torrent files and ed2k links). PERMITTED
And you have to be careful how you word your posts. If you come in saying "I'm tired of paying for games..." or other comments like that, making it obvious that piracy is your intent, then that is clearly against the rules.

any box that gets opened gets banned. Can't believe you were brave enough to send one in with xclamps and wonder why it didn't get repaired? You void the warranty when you open every xbox period. Microsoft will ban the box if they find it has been tampered with. I had one go in for repair and they banned it and it even had all the stickers on it, but it had marks on the case.

Ya, that's the one. I'm kinda surprised, i've made threads before on both forums, telling one that I made it on the other and every single time, no one knew (or at least, told me that they knew) which one I was talking about. Touche. You get a cookie.

Like I said, I got away with it the first time. What I suspect happened the first time (and this is what someone on TL said that makes sense) is that they used the secondary error code on my first one (which was 0001 btw) and figured it would simply be easier to just send me a refurb. This time my error code (iirc, it's not plugged in and I don't really feel like plugging it in) is 0020. It's probably something they thought they could fix, opened it up and found that it is tampered with.
