Hi people
This is a guide to watching bbciplayer on your ps3.... i also have a small issue with live tv lets work together and sort this out.
Guide to watch bbciplayer on ps3.
1 get yourself a uk dedicatied vpn service i use lamnia works well for me i get speeds between 2to5mbps this will run the bbciplayer without buffering issues. COSTS $28 PER MONTH
2 once you have installed your vpn (do it manually as per your vpn guide dont use dialler software) click on your vpn network select properties and go to the sharing tab.
3 in the sharing tab enable share this connection. you will see a drop down box with your lan connection select this.OR your wirless connection if you are wireless
4 get yourself a crossover cable (Not a ethernet cable it wont work)power down your cpu connect one end into the lan port of the cpu and the other end to the ps3.
5Fire up the cpu and connect to your vpn
6 fire up the ps3 and your internet should work GO TO THE BBCIPLAYER WEB PAGE AND AWAY YOU GO
now the only thing im stuck on is the fact that when i try to watch bbc1 live the iplayer spits a message out that says bbc london is not avalible at this time.........But i can view it on my cpu for the life of me i cant work it out would be nice to get it going in time for the world cup

That is a lot every month just to get the BBC; especialy if it does not work completely.
You might consider setting up your VPN in your router; this whole crossover cable mess you have can't be helping matters.

you can also view all the itv chanels 4ond 5od considering i watch most of the uk on austar and pay a bomb for a shitload of repeats $28 is cheap plus the fact australian tv is pretty bad. i supose this is more aimed at the poms lost in aus you cant beat the good old bbc

Trust me people $28 for the BBC channels is a rip off! A lot of us here in the UK dont even think we should pay the licence fee but as its a law we have to!
Hell I even complained to them about why they arent showing enough scifi, they said they have to consider the people who dont like scifi. I then replied asking what about those people who do not like soaps. The BBC have 4 new episodes of Eastenders a week with an omnibus at the weekend, and thats just ONE soap! I asked how they can justify this, they basically bumped me off.
Only thing worth watching is Dr Who and the news, but even the news is sometimes bias, but not as much as US networks.
And if you are doing this to watch Dr Who, just wait a day and download it from a torrent. No £28 fee there.

Fair comment, ive been in aus now for 7yrs now you think the bbc is bad try watching aus tv its terrible .
maybe im just home sick, but i do read about lot of people abroad who are trying tofind a way to watch uk tv / Iplayer

I pay the TV license, only because we are forced to, its better than a fine or jail, i only watch Eastenders and the news, though saying all that, thepog233, you are paying over £70(AUD$114) more than a license payer, for what is basically junk :(
I would do as bigo93 says and download it, most UK TV can be found on Usenet or Torrents.

Personally, the only thing I think the BBC does well (not great; just 'well') is the news, and an occasional series that is either canceled or ruined after the first season (WTF is up with the constant Laugh track on season 2 of 'Little Britain'? I can't even watch it; if I wanted to hear canned laughter, I would watch 'Friends'). With this in mind, I get the BBC news from the local PBS, and I get the rest from netflix.
I guess it might be a different story if I cared about the world cup or something, but I don't...and they don't broadcast any of the racing that I would be willing to pay for.
BTW...cable users can order the BBC package in my area (4 channels of it, I think)...just a few bucks a month. I thought this was a ripoff for something that was free in the UK...but now that I know the taxes involved, it is clear that the US subscribers get it cheaper!

u wud think in this day and age if u wanted to watch the bbc channels in the uk u could subscribe like u do with sky movies and sport and get rid of the licence fee which is a rip off

Thats the one thing i dont miss here in oz the dreaded licencing detector van! are they still about ?
anyway people share your knoledge ...
i can play the stuff on the iplayer ie eastenders (deadenders)etc etc
on the ps3.
when i click the option to go live the iplayer does its stuff looks like its going to play and then..........bbc london is unavalible at this time
Yet the same feed plays fine on the cpu.
if it was saying that i needed to be in the uk to access the bbc
i would know my vpn is faulty but the fact that it plays the iplayer catchup programs puts that one to rest.
could it be a regional issue or maybe something silly like the time setting (oz time)on the ps3????????? please help before i cuck the dam thing out of the window and go n buy myself another pc :)

I would set the PS3 time to GMT, and I would also make a new PSN account, specifying that you live in the UK (look online for the BBC's address, and use that).
