went home at lunch and put another hard drive in the pc and install vista on it. will try connecting the xbox when i get home from work. hopefully that will remove any problems i have.

can you believe it, i had a spare 500gb sata drive just hanging around not being used :o

Can i just get a comfirmation on how to put it into modeB

- jungle flasher i connect sata from pc to 360 and power the drive using the 360. turn pc on then 360 then when jungle flashers see it. eject drive and click modeB.

If you have a 79, you also have to run the audio cd. And you have to be careful because you can brick a Hitachi drive. Your best bet for the most recent flashing info is to just follow the Jungleflasher guide.

I know i have to use the cd to unlock the drive to i can flash it etc. but am i getting it into modeB the right way?

Right found the route of the pc crashing. dodgy stick of ram.

so i removed that and jungleflasher was able to put the drive in modeB then it was able to dump the firmware then it was able to flash it with extreme fireware.

and it was able to read and play copies.

@Mik3h: yeah vista only think to hand. i couldnt find my xp disc or win7
