I bought a system today that has a BenQ drive flashed with the latest iXtreme firmware.

But what I'm wondering is - is there a way to completely reverse this process? Restore it to it's original Microsoft Xbox 360 firmware? I don't know how much I like being limited to offline play for the most part and not really knowing what I'm doing.

If it's not possible, I have a few questions if I'm going to live with this thinggg. P:

if it has LT on it I don't think it can be dumped. Which means if you don't have the original firmware that you can't go back to it.

But I might be wrong about not being able to dump it.

Is the original FW system-specific? :|

Its specific per model of drive, but you can download anyones original firmware and put your key in it and it will work fine as long as it comes from the same type of drive as yours.

Well yeah, it's a BenQ/VAD6038 and I've already found those online...what I'm wondering now is, is it safe to flash with that firmware?

Is it still possible to get banned on XBL even if you revert your FW? I saw something about it being stored on your NAND even if you revert. So yeah. That's all.

(I just got this Xbox and was just thrown right into all this flashing/modding stuff, sorry if I seem like a complete moron).

Some people think that the update ran a test on your drive to see if it was flashed, others think it logs read times and what not. But no one knows for sure. I was already on the latest dash when I flashed LT but you don't HAVE to do that.

It is safe to flash someone else's original firmware with your key in it to update. Then flash LT with your key in it over.

Okay, so I better pray the guy who sold it to me has the drive key (unless there's another way to go about getting it?) so I can freaking get busy on reverting this thing.

I hope that crap about the logs isn't true, but who knows.

Time to go find a good guide for flashing and get a SATA connector. *sigh*.

Something is going to wrong, I KNOW IT. D:

The only other way to get it is to jtag it. Which can only be done if the dashboard is 7371 or below.

Turn the xbox on, go to system settings, console settings, system info.

It will say Dashboard: X.X.XXXX.X

the XXXX is the dashboard version you are looking for to be less than 7371

The previous owner is willing to send me the key via e-mail later. Yay? :)

I feel like I have everything I need to DO IT, but I just need to know HOW. Oh yeah, and I connected my drive via SATA port and can't get it to show up at all. Not sure why -- will look into it later.
