WHAT would be the best route for modding new arcade 360?

I just picked one up and lookin to mod it.I currently have the xbox appart to find out which drive was in there and it is a lite-on model#DG-16D2S-09C Im not afraid to spend the coin if its gonna make things run smoother Im checking out the xecuter blaster will this work for me and what else do I need? running a desktop pc btw.

A Blaster is not used to flash your drive. It simply makes re-flashing easier. You need this or this or this for your Lite-On 83850c v2 or 93450 to make it easier. Get yourself a VIA 6421 SATA card also.

I just did mine.
Was going to get the executer lt pro kit, decided to do it myself.
I already had a siwtch, and via card, spent 18c for the 22 ohm resistor
Watched youtube videos on the mra hack, performed, flashed with jungleflasher, removed all hardwares mods from liteon, connected up again and all good to go...

good stuff always rely on afterdawn for some positive answers been awhile but im back thanks for the replies. so the blaster cant flash your drive for the first time it seems like a handy tool for the "re-flashing" even thought it is'nt that big of a deal to take apart your 360 it would be annoying to have to do once a month or so. yea I've ordered that card from the research I had done before I posted seems you HAVE to get one to do this. could'nt find anything on youtube under the "mra hack"?

Ya I figured I might get that comment haha new to the xbox modding only done the old ps2 with a chip this is a bit more technical can anyone confirm iXtreme v1.6 to be the one Im after... from my "harder search" thats what I came up with.

u cant follow the first version 8XXXX instruction
i think there is some tutorial on xbx scene
with your drive, u have to scratch some of the tracing then add some wire then you can extract key.

The pdf explains howto do the mra hack with and without the executer lt switch.
Mine was also the 93450C version, the above pdf details this version as well.
Remember, if using the mra hack, return dvd controller board back to original state before plugging into x360 to use (is also stated in the above pdf).

good stuff. I found the firmware just waiting for my VIA 6421 SATA card to come in the mail I think Im gnna buy the Maximus 360 Litekey as eebeejay suggested it says it will dump the 93450C key and you dont have to take it off just one install looks easy enough. thanks guys I'll update when I get my card.

just so to clarify I dont end up needing anything else with the this maximus litekey and via 6421 card I should be able to dump and flash my drive no propes or anything else needed?

you have to open the drive, and do some cutting on the PCB board. You also need a Vampire Probe and a Maximus kit. About $50 total. After you dump the firmware, you will need to solder the traces back together. Here is a guide on the vampire:

sounded good til I read this on a youtube video doing the vampire mod
and i quote "litekey is for one-time modders who just want a device thats does it all in 1 step." "vampire on the other hand is re-usable, targeted to professional installers." ???? sorry guys correct me if im wrong but im not doing the vampire mod the lite key its based on the mra hack and thats different?

Get the xecuter LT switch, you will need to cut 2 or 3 tracks on the liteon's controller board, then install the xecuter LT switch.
Once installed, read/flash liteon.
The xecuter LT switch stays in place, re-assemble liteon, re-assemble 360 and enjoy...
Using the xecuter LT switch, no other hardware is required, except a soldering iron of course...

ok something that has me wondering just getting the board prepped for this lite key when they say cut traces do they mean jus getting the green off and down to the copper or beyond that these instructions have me a lil confused http://www.360litekey.com/manual/LITEKEY_INSTALL_GUIDE_V1.pdf
from my understanding it says to cut the traces then put solder on them but they dont connect to the chip?

on the 6th picture, you see 6 solder balls, for these you need to scrap of the protective green coating down to the track only, this ensures the solder balls will stick to it once applied.
Also on picture 6, it shows 3 cuts to tracks, these are the cuts that cut the actual tracks, if you have a multimeter you can test conductivity once cut.

From my understanding, the 3 links i gave you (in the very first reply), are to 3 different products that do the exact same job. Of the 3, I've only used the LT Switch. Used it on 2 93450 drives, and 2 83850 drives, and 4 83450v2 drives.
And yes, the iXtreme LT firmware is available ALL Lite-Ons. Download Auto-Xbins to get it.

Well something did'nt go right and it shorted out and burned one of the holes I scraped on the top with the two traces on each side of it...still determined though. Im assuming this drive is a write off, question is if I was to buy another arcade system and successfully extract the key from that drive and re-flash it, could I then use the original fm to flash/spoof a replacement benq drive or samsung and put it in the first system? or can you only use your original fm for one drive. Not sure of the fine details behind all of this also Im not worried about xbox live I don't use it.

from my understanding, the console and dvd drive are locked to one another, you require the key of the original drive in order to spoof it to another and use in the console who's drive is now poked...correct me if wrong guys...

interesting that does make sense kwm300, so replacement drives would only be useful to you if you had got the original firmware dumped I guess
