Burning backups optirac dvd burner

Hello

I am new to the modding scene but have done extensive research but hit a few walls. I have read many tutorials on burning my back ups to disk.

I understand that good quality media is necessary but I wish to use my laptop to burn the backups. The laptop is a Dell Vostro 1500 the DVD drive is a optiarc ad-5560A it supports burning to DVD+R DL disk's so I would assume it should be fine for burning?

I have read about how bit setting used to be necessary but due to upgrades in the firmware this is no longer the case, however assuming I use reliable blank media at about 2x burn speed with imgburn I should be good to go?
