hey guys,, im new to the 360 scene. i bought a 360 of a freind of a fraind which plays backups, is there a way to find out if its chipped or flashed. also is there a way to find out if its ok to go online. thanks everyone xx

more than likely flashed and probably not 'xbl safe' if they did it more than a couple months ago.
the only 100% way to tell is to crack the box open and check it out.

Yes there is, and it's very simple......... ask your friend to ask their friend if it's chipped or flashed ;)

thankyou everyone, jpfizzle thankyou and yeah man utd all the way till i die i live very close to OT,
sicdude i already asked an he said he wasnt sure as he bought it like that. wabashman i dont know manu07 an it isnt an alternative name sorry... LOL. ive been on afterdawn for abit now geting help with my wii and now im gonna get into the 360. is it ok for me to go online it was done more than 4 months ago cheers and thanks for the quick replys

Don't chance it. If the drive is a Lite-On or BenQ, have it re-flashed with iXtreme LT firmware, which is the "safest" firmware right now.
