Hello.
I was following Liteon Probe Tutorial and Flashing Liteon 74850C Tutorial to flash my friend's xbox 360. I opened Jungle flasher and opened the drive half way like the tutorial said an everytime i put the probe in to then click the Get Key, Creat Dummy.bin, Open as Source it would give me the error bad serial data.
Then one time i forgot to open the drive half way and left it shut with the drive on, i put the probe in the R707 hole and clicked the Get Key, Creat Dummy.bin, Open as Source button and it then said the drive couldn't be detected. Since then, everytime i push the eject button on the xbox, the power light blinks once and nothing happens. Also when i turn the xbox on the laser used to move and come on, but now it doesnt do anything. I am worried i have completely made the xbox useless now. I also noticed that the black square with glue around the edge on the drive board near the r707 hole that gets REALLY hot. I don't remember it getting that hot before. I have moved the laser to different positions and tried turning the xbox on but it has not made any difference.
When i open the tray manually and put a disc in it will not read it.
Is there anything i can do to get the drive working again even if i dont flash modded firmware on because i'd rather it work without modded firmware than not work.

Thanks

Nope, no dvd key. I did nothing to the drive other than put my probe in and click that button to get the key. :(
Can the drive be fixed?

Does the drive show any power? How were you powering the drive? Are you sure you didn't plug the power in upside down? Did the probe light up when you hit the 707? Oh and this method is out of date and not recommended anyway. You should be doing a full dump.

The drive powers but the laser doesnt move, it used to move but now it doesnt light up or anytihng. It makes a whirring sound which slowly gets louder and louder. I powered the drive through the xbox like normal, it was the correct way up as there is a little ridge to show which way it goes. I do not have a light on my probe because i made it myself following that tutorial.

hope your still there,
what you need to do is go to "the usual places" and get the first LT package that has the original.bin for your drive, then create from dummy with the intended FW then erase and flash, once its Flashed it will not read the keys due to the newer FW.
i have them if you cant find them.. just hit me up..

I'm not quite sure what you mean, I can't seem to do anything to the drive because it wont detect in my computer anymore.

I am having the same problem. i was trying to flash my lite on 74850 and was trying to get the key using the ck3 probe and then it lost my drive on jungle flasher and now my drive is unresponsive. there was no erasing or key dumping done all i did was probed it a few times trying to get the key and that is it.

i refuse to believe that it is bricked as no erase happened.

Ranger RI are you saying that we can flash the drive with out our key of the drive ???

You guys using the usb port or serial? Did you select the correct com port? Bad serial data usually means usb or serial isn't even connected.

This is what has happened to me. I was using the serial port for my home made probe and had the dvd drive plugged into the SATA port into my computer.
I did not flash the drive, get the key or erase anything. There must be a way to get these drives responding again.

I was trying this method last year and I found out I killed my disk drive altogether. I was really bummed out. Hope you didn't end up killing off your disk drives. =\

These drives are pretty hard to brick. Homemade probe? You sure you made it right? If power goes in up side down, it will fry the pcb.

Well i'm not 100% sure i made it right but i tested it with a multimeter and i got a reading with that, but i kind of dont care about my probe anymore :P i want the drive working again :(
Yea i know the thing with the power cable, i didn't touch the power cable before it stopped working so im pretty sure that's not the problem.
Thanks

Here are the pictures of the probe i made, this is all the stuff i have, i do not have a pcb, i use the xbox as the for the drive power source. And to power the probe i use a pin from a molex cable from my power supply.
