I've made 6 dumps of my nand so far and none of them match, am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be appreciated I hired a guy to do the soldering work and he used the guide here jtag hack/dump to do the soldering work.

Well, if none match then obviously something is wrong. When you're running nandpro, do you get any errors?

well when you say errors do you mean in the command line when it's reading my nand
Error: 0 reading block 90
Error: 0 reading block 91

If that's what you mean I don't get much or any but I've seen variation on some dumps

Yes, I'm referring to command line errors. If you're getting "0 reading" errors, it means just that... you're getting no reading. What is your flashconfig number when you start nandpro in the command line?

the flash config number is 00001000
I started another read of the nand and the flash config was 00007E00
but still no reads
when I did it once it started to give me a letter as well as a zero and sometimes a few numbers as does that mean it read a few blocks properly?
a few more details the console is a falcon if that makes any difference

That's not the right flashconfig, so something is definately wrong.

FlashConfig - System Types
01198010 - Xenon, Zephyr, Opus, Falcon
00023010 - Jasper 16mb
008A3020 - Jasper 256mb
00AA3020 - Jasper 512mb

Have you tried changing the lpt setting in your pc bios? Myself, I have to set the lpt to epp 1.7. instead of normal to get the right flashconfig.

thank you I'll try that. The faq I read on jtaging was very vague as it turns out could you direct me to a more comprehensive guide? This is the guide I used

That guide is as about as good as it gets. try the LPT setting in your bios. Set it to EPP like bhetrick said. That was one of my problems. The other was that I needed to shorten my LPT cable. It's about 8 inches now. Try that also.

I did set it to EPP but now it just doesn't even recognize that it's connected to the xbox it just searches the LPT addresses and doesn't find the flash connector(or whatever it's looking for.) I found a group of ppl in town that will JTag it for me and was wondering if I get them to do it would I need to take it back every time I want to say update freeboot or whatever it is they install?

Is it possible for you to post any pictures of the wiring so we can have a look?

I'd rather not take the mobo out as I don't know how to do that properly and the man who did the soldering did some soldering on the bottom side to keep it as clean as possible, also most importantly I don't have a camera. I've gotten the device to work on the epp setting but I still don't get the correct flash controller.

If you went through your different lpt settings in your bios, then the culprit is a bad cable/soldering.
