hi,im very new to the starview world and recently got a sv6,im on n*l in dublin an ive just lost 4 or 5 channels,virgin and tcm and a few others,is there something simple i need to do to get them back bearing in mind im a rank amature,thanks in advance,jim

You could go into MENU & AUTO-SCAN on 6887. Pin no.8989 if requested.
Could be temporary issue with provider or server.
Post back here please if you have any success or not

no joy with that im afraid eamo,i dont have discovery real time, virgin,tcm and one or two other shitty channels,but i thought if it was c*ardsHaring they would all be available,i really appreciate your help anyways,i had a starview years ago and when it died i was distraught.

All the missing channels are on freq 299.
Anyone notice a pattern here?
Expect them all to go soon.

Don't have SVU6 myself, but I remember SVU4-usb lost over 100 chls. on Nagra 1 with
N*L-EIRE. The chls. weren't recovered until months later when Nagra 2 fix came out.
Let's hope there's an easy fix for this problem, as people are wary about buying boxes
already.

i am just getting back on to the site so i see that there is a starview 6 how good is it for ntl users

forgive me being a nub, but is there any way to setup sw6 hd combo using sat to tune in scotland, not in cable area, hav 20mb BB shy dish

nope, SV6 is a cable box, if your looking to tune a SV combo box in, you need a cable feed for the cable side to work, the sat side will pull in FTA chans in its basic form

H.D. COMBO has both cable & sat tuners, so will work with sky dish for free channels.
Connect cable from dish to LNB-in on box, select Astra 28.2 in SAT selector menu, then
do a scan(free only) to pick up channels.
If you want movies & sports you will have to connect box-lan to router & use card share.

Thanks for the heads up, now i know my SW6 is pretty much useless unless i set up CS are there any alternatives i could use Via sat tune or is CS my only option being out of cable area.

Don't know why you keep calling Sta*vu HD combo an SW6.
The options to c/s are not ideal, twin lnb's or motorised dish to point at different
sattelites. You might be watching prem match in foreign language, turning on radio 5
for commentary, screen & commentary out of sync. C/S is best solution.
If you have broadband connect P.C. to T.V. with VGA lead.
USE;
WatchMovies24.net or similiar to watch films
MyP2P.eu to watch live sport (will freeze at times)
OR
Pay £10(2 months) to LiveOnlinefooty(not digital picture but won't freeze)

Thanks for these sites i will check them out, i have good pc XPS720 Q9650 connected to telly via digital to hdmi but aint keen on the potential grief - not correct audio, out of sync etc so
i am keen to CS either sharing from others or setting up to share my sub
because.
i am such a nub to this I dont know if i need other software on my box etc.
if someone can give me a basic rundown of what i need and how to set up i would be most grateful, if i am asking anyone to disclose too much can they pm or email me with info instead

there are a couple of threads on afterdawn that you could read that discuss cardsharing and whats needed for it . you can get two of them by clicking on the links in my signature area , there is a bit of reading but you will learn a lot .the starview link is for cable cs (this only works in ireland at this point )and the dreambox 500s thread is for satellite .
