Mods please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I didn't know exactly which one to post this question in.

I'm wondering what the risk of newsgroups is, as opposed to P2P and/or torrents.

From what I've heard, you're basically at risk for sharing, not for only downloading. Is that true?

If anyone can shed any light on this, I would appreciate it.
