120gb elite hdmi (manufact 13.09.2009) - flashable?

hi, im currently on ebay and after purchasing a 120gb elite.

my friend who can mod the xbox can only do the "flashable" drives and cannot do the soldering onto motherboard method.

my question is (and not knowing which cd drive is in the xbox ie. liteon, benQ etc)

can this be modded via flashing the drive, with the manufacture date of 13 september 2009?

i hope someone can shine some light on this, as its for my little brother who loves playing on my older (2007 model) white xbox premium!

and i just want to make sure i can do him the games!

i'm guessing that it's a good chance of having an 8v2 or 9 series lite on drive. both need soldering i think.

CawkFour is correct. The manufacturer number you listed will most certainly have a 83850c or a 93450c LiteOn.

Has there been any news if work is being done to get around the soldering part? Or did MS make it annoying enough to require it no matter what? If so, what are people charging to do it?
