Far as i know sony to change thier commerical to PS3 it only does what we will let it or ps3 it use to do everything lol

Well looks like Sony has done it again. I changed my DNS and was able to play online without updating, at least until today. Looks like unless there is going to be a CFW, we'll have to update.

I've been doing some reading and I'm wondering if it is even worth it to wait for the CFW. My understanding was that with CFW I would retain Other OS and be able to play my games online. If CFW lets me keep Other OS but I lose my online play than it's not worth it.

The CFW should let you play online.

The last I saw was when he tweeted he had to do his taxes and CFW would have to wait. Other than that who knows. Just gotta be patient I guess.

I'm starting to think of installing it. If GeoHot's CFW isn't out by the weekend, I'll probably just update and sue sony for the $200 (plus lawyers fees and mental anguish) it will cost me to buy a small linux computer to replace what they have stolen from me. I bet they will pay it, just to make the problem disappear.

Just filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC...I am requesting a PC capable of running linux and connecting to a HD TV. Sounds fair, right?
I wonder if I could file a complaint with one of the anti-piracy companies...if Piracy is theft of software, and sony stole software from at least 100,000 people, then they could have a big case!

I wouldn't hold your breath on GeoHot...his last post was 11 days ago, and the most recent advice from his blog is, "No release date yet, use the proxy hack to play online with 3.15"...something that everyone knows does not work.
Plus, I think he may have picked a project that is bigger than he thought it was. A CFW for the PS3 is going to be a much bigger thing that a CFW for an iPhone.
...And then there is the other issue...as soon as he releases his CFW 3.21, sony will release 3.22 or 3.57, or whatever, and then his CFW is useless anyway...and it seems to take GeoHot longer to write a firmware than it takes sony.
I hate to say it, but I finally bit the bullet and installed the update to get my online play back...my PC can run linux, it cannot run PS3 games. That is why I filed the complaints with the BBB and the FTC, and if nothing comes of those, then I'll try to get a class action suit in order. As far as I'm concerned, sony came to my house with a gun and said, "We are here to steal your PS3 or your linux computer, which shall it be?"

Just checked out geohot's blog...he has had over 10,000 responses to his last blog post, yet he hasn't even changed the advice to use the proxy hack. Something tells me that GeoHot is not going to be the salvation of PS3 linux, hopefully he will at least release his code so that a whole lot of lesser programmers can work on it together, rather than one programmer working on it only when he feels like it.

Yeah I've been checking his blog and twitter. The only thing he tweets about is the iphone or ipad. I think he accomplished what he needed. I just think he may have bit more than he could chew. Anyways I updated and got my COD fix on.
