What if some novice in EIRE buys a STVU 5 today, because Canon says it works here.
Stavu 5 hasn't worked on cable since SEPT/OCT 2009, & never worked on sat.
I have often read Canon's posts here & found them very informative indeed
Now I wonder if he posts such crap about cable boxes, how accurate are his previous
posts.
Pio.,you were very naieve when you came on here first, but you have come on in leaps
& bounds since. Your working knowledge of linux has prospered because you asked people
like Fint for tips & were sharp enough to take to linux like a duck to water. You don't
need to plaumass Canon or anyone else on here. You have helped a lot of people here.
So let Canon stand up for himself, & if he's anyway humble Mickah won't be too harsh on
him.

I Agreed with SG8 on what he said to me on the above lines, that it a plug & go, because he has it up & running, ,so he should know on that,so here is my problem is when i ask about the SV6 i am told it not a plug & go like the other& the way this box worked, so i am getting misleading information and i say to them are u sure on that because other lads have them up & running.& it make me look bad on this thread & i could not blame
MICKAH/Mooley & the rest of the lads for saying so.as i have said before is that i am not well up on these cable boxes only on small thing that might pop up now & again.
I will remove that thread discussion with that load of chap as u say .Sorry lads i am getting wrong info.thanks lads.

It is not the same as before as it works on a completely different system. The previous boxes before now all worked via Emulator. This one does not (entirely). It is all explained in the thread link I posted previously on this thread, it is explained fully.

No worries. We're all learning every day of our lives.
Personally I don't comment on these boxes because I neither have one nor have I been in the presence of one.

Thr story is, that this lad called magic is moving from Technomate to spiderbox . So he will now be releasing patches for the spiderbox from now on. Some people are saying , he never made the patches for technomate in the first place, he was ony the front for the real developers.Belive who you want really

Freeview are only for the UK.Market only.
(DTT)is comming to Ireland very soon & is currently undergoing a Transition from Analogue to Digital on Test here .SO Check that the TV is Irish Digital Mpeg4 Ready.
Led/TVs Backlights are the way to go for now Better picture on them over the just Lcd sets. Note look up my other threads i done a week or so on NEW STUFF on the market & and a thread on the new Cell TVs. Maybe the way to go.& if u like new 3D Techology TVs then Samsung have a few new sets on the market to look at.40inc Led selling under ?2,000 here.
ok that all for now.
i dont think led tv is the way to go, there contrast levels are awful and the sound quality on samsung tv's is just terrible, panasonic viera's are far better especially the new sets that are coming out, just my 2 cents......

I hope not for a while or so on that MICKAH, it a very good box TM6900combo HD.
of course as u know i have the package from N~L also . No choice then when the other boxes went down last year on the Nagra3 setup, i wanted some channels that i can't get on the sat/box even now. so i can have the best of both world in sat & cable, if i knowin that there was this other box ,i would have not got a N~L box. i see them selling on the net between ?150 & ?200.for now i am in a contract with N~L for the first year.their box have a 80GB Hard drive built in so it not bad for recording.

Well shaneh in the market place to date that the way they are going for now
with the all new 3DTVs comming on as well that will be LED/LCD tv.
Panasonic Viera's are a very good set as well with it 600Hz motion plus Techology now running on some of their sets. Sumsung
Sound was not bad when u set up the sound Equalizer on it & picture setting
to.i found the picture quality great on the Led back lighting system it has.
i also use a Targa 5.1 surround sound system & it worked very well to.
Led backlighting is far better than the pure Lcd type TVs sold a while back.
Things are changing so fast these days so u won't know what they will bring out on the market Next. but first u will have to get the Picture & Sound setting set up right.to see how good these new Led/lcd tvs over the old type tv's .A true Led tv is called OLED.
But it very very dear to buy these days. it was costing over ?2,000 for a 11inc oled tv
but we will wait & see what will be next to come on the market.

Same here MICKAH as i have said be4 with the Samsung superslim 40inc.Led/lcd tv i have &
Won't change it at lease for another 8years or 10 years or so ,By then there should be a set standed on the market for a lot of Hi-Fi & TVs as well.& then u can go & buy.
For now they are chopping & changing models like there no tomorrow.all to get the money out of your pocket in things that might not last to long on the market.as u well know MICKAH. I Review stuff that new to the market from time to time, they look great in review with their spec & Yet we still don't know how long these models will stay on the market or drop from the market, We just don't know.it a mine field out there.ILL stick
with my cable box (N~L) & sat /box for now.

Likewise i got a couple of things wrong myself on this Discussion thread on SV6 box that came out a while ago. in which i don't know that much about this new type box on the market. TVs/sat-boxes/mp3- players/dvd blue ray players & recorder + freesat & freeview boxes. i review from time to time that might make it to the market or not + phones (smartphones). But on this Thread only look at some new type TVs,sat receivers,
Freeview & Freesat HDs boxes+ Specs., in review Soon.

cactid, never said a truer word. still learning. lot of patience needed. there is no one user who has all the answers. so its good to listen and learn/or not from others. but always keep an open mind, check it out, and there is always something to be picked up from reading for future reference

i work in retail and all the manufacturers change there models every 6 months, been like that for bout 5 years now, before that it was once a year, dont think its to get money out of your pocket(of course they want your money though!), its called progress, same happens with laptops mp3 cars etc.......
