In the first month since Microsoft created the "browser ballot box" as a way to end the EU's antitrust case against them, Internet Explorer's market share has dropped, as much as 2.5 percent in some nations such as France. It's always good to have competition in the market place and I guess for those who don't know anything about computers it helps to give them a choice of other browsers. One problem is most people don't like change or to have to learn something new even if it is better in the long run so I wouldn't expect these percetages to be high, heck I still know people that run that crappy AOL browser and they would be lost with out it.

According to web measurement firm Net Applications, Internet Explorer has a 62 per cent share of the browser market, with Mozilla's Firefox browser its closest rival with a 24 per cent market share.
