For anyone curious i'd like to share i recently flashed a benq with lt, and updated the xeon motherboard to the new dashboard (hasn't been online since 2008) and have not yet been banned, which im assuming if i were to be banned it would be when i updated. Not to say the console isn't flagged to be banned i have no clue. But it was LT 1.1 (with "bug" fixed") not the original benq release.
edit- flashed using Jungleflasher 1.73
"This console has been banned from Xbox LIVE for violating terms of service, Yada yada yada..."

Just a question, did you update via flash drive or did you download via Live?
I thought that just updating with a usb is fine and doesn't mean an instant ban.

You may not be instantly banned but flagged for when they do a ban wave. Doesn't matter how you update the console, if they can detect the firmware the only way not to be banned is to stay offline.

Staying offline is essentially banning yourself.
Everybody knows the risk in playing online with modified firmware and free games.

But the good thing about "banning yourself" is that you get to keep your hard drive functionality :)

Easy to fix though. Dump the NAND and use FindSecData to locate the old secdata backups. Write the old secdata back to the NAND and you'll get your HDD functionality back. Along with not flagging your profile and game saves for corruption if you go back over to a non-banned 360.

If I knew how to solder I would do this, and nobody in my area does this so i'm stuck with no HDD function

Updated over live on the same internet connection that i've had 2 boxes banned on (ix 1.5/1.61) and an still online. PLayed mw2 for a few hours after update to be sure, I wouldnt be surprised if im flagged but i updated a benq 1.6 about a week ago and was banned instantly
so i would think them to ban instantly for lt if they are for >1.61.
Reguardless, im online running lt.. for now at least
