Please help,
I was flashing my xbox and opened the casing, identified my benq drive and connected it to my PC. However, as soon as i power on my xbox i get 4 red lights flashing. What does this mean and can it be fixed??

This makes no sense at all. SATA is SATA, IDE Is IDE. and you didn't answer my question. If you did NOT buy a 6421 via card, most likely will not work. Spend the $10 if you want it to work.

I bought an adaptor which my sata cable plugs into. There is a lead on this to plug into USB and also for it to plug into IDE slot, i was given a 6421 via card by my friend but it was a real cheap one which might not work so i will buy another to see if that is the proble. Thanks for your help and sorry for being a bit of a noob!!
what makes you think that one doesn't work? I think you're confused too. The adpapter you have is an all in one. USB to SATA or IDE. It just does both. I don't think those work. Use a PCI 6421

I will try it, i just bought one on ebay so i will give it a go again when it arrives
