How to I replace 360 drive?

I have an Xbox that seems to work just fine aside from the fact that the DVD drive won't read discs.

This prompted me to buy a replacement DVD drive of the same (DG-16D2S/74580C) type to swap them.

Originally I figured I could swap the boards out as I had seen done in tutorials. However, it seems with this particular drive that soldering would be required to change these boards around.

My question is then: How do I get this new drive to work in the old Xbox?

Option 1: It's like you said, swap the boards of the drives.
Why? Because the non-working drive has the "key" that matches the "key" in the console's motherboard. The DVD's key and the console's key HAVE to match.

Option 2: Use Jungle Flasher (or some alternative) to read and save the DVD key of the non-working drive. Then write (aka spoof) that key to the working drive.
Why? Because the new drive has to have the key that matches the console's key in order to read games.
