I plan to mod a lite on within the next couple of days. I have done a little bit of reading and it seems to be a bit more tricky than the benq drives. I am currently lookin for helpful tips from anyone that knows how to mod this drive. And if i need additional hardware besides what it takes to mod the benq? Btw i dont have the connectivity kit. Thanks for your help.

It depends on what version Lite-On drive you have, 2 of them require extra hardware and 1 does not. You will need to find out what version drive you have then see if it requires the extra hardware to flash.

i could be wrong but i think 3 of them need xtra hardware (7xxx, 8xxx v2 and the 9xxx) while the 8xxx v1 does not.

All LiteOns should be fully dumped now that full firmware dumps are available. This requires cutting the traces. Then probe or solder, which ever you choose.

You can make a homemade probe or purchase the Maximus Xtractor PRO + Vampire. There is the CK3 Pro + Probe2 but I'm not for sure if the Probe2 is shipping yet.

I think you're the only person (other than me) who tell people this. Noobs that are still using the 707 method still don't get it. Either fully dump or replace your laser every other month and get banned from live LOL

What about your laser? You'll be replacing it quite often if you don't do a full dump

The 707 dump method is a parital dump that doesn't include all the laser calibration information. Therefore, if you flash with this method the laser burns out fast. If you do a full dump you'll be fine. A full dump consists of soldering and cutting traces on the board. Poths has the best guide I've followed to do mine here:

I think I'm just gonna order a back up drive and try the solder method that modking was talking about.

so even if I spoofed a benq to a lite on I would have to cut the traces & solder? is spoofing to lite on even a good idea?
