Hi guys, I bought a fat ps3 few days ago from one of my dad's acquaintance, and it's on version 2.60. My question is whether I should upgrade to the latest firmware and if not why and what is the use of other os? Also, is upgrading necessary for psn?

The Other OS lets you install Linux, which lets you do various things that you cant do on the XMB, like watch .MKV files, word processing, watching various movie formats not supported by the XMB, you can also use the NTSC HDD format in Linux, where you can via the XMB.

My advice, would be to use PS3 Proxy Tool and dont update.

Thanks for the reply but I don't use any of the other features on the ps3 and I just wanna play games on it so I guess I'll just update it.

I have the same problem, just checked for updates and said you will not be able to run other OS like Linux, Thank you for the advice. ps loved to know if the ps3 can run like the (WIIFlow)[img][/img]
