I flashed the firmware on my DVD drive on my 360 last fall, and never hooked up to the network on my 360. I have been waiting around since the bans were given out to see if anyone had found a solution to the banning problem, as I want to play on live with my originals (or backups for that matter), but I havent seen anything.

Was the cause of the ban ever determined? should I be ok to hook up now? I miss live and I would like to get back into it. I rarely play my 360 now as offline content is boring, and havent gotten a chance to play MW2 online. Can I flash my firmware back to default?

Is there new firmware to flash? where can I look, google seems to have lots of 2007 info, but nothing new.

If you have a lite-on or benq drive in that console you should be able to flash it to the new LT version 2 (litetouch) firmware and be able to play online with no problems....for the moment!

There is no gaurantees ever that you will not get banned...but as leerage has pointed out many times on this forum, by not playing online you are banning yourself. So what do you have to lose? You can always get a second console later for cheap (just bought 2 non-banned unmodded consoles today for 30 bucks a piece, cheaper than a 360 game!)

But yeah, safest route would be to flash to LT version 2...no problems yet.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

I think I have a Samsung drive. Yeah, I have thought about the "banning myself" thing, but I wanted to wait until there was a "currently safe" method around before I put it back on the tubes.

Where can I read about these procedures? I had a friend walk me through it before, now I dont know where to look.

On the stickies on the front page of the forum....right at the top....there's is ALL the information you would ever need to know about an xbox 360 including tutorials, links to pictures, videos, etc.

Totally missed it. lol. Also, according to your signature, samsung firmware is still getting caught and banned? So... should I just keep this one as offline only? replace the drive with a liteon?

No, there is no spoofing drives for LT firmware unfortunately. I still consider samsungs ixtreme 1.61 firmware relatively safe as I have a console that is still not banned running the firmware. However, M$ is capable of detecting this firmware...whether they are currently banning people is hit and miss and has a LOT to do with having properly burned images...ABGX verified etc. But like I said, you can always pick up an ubanned console for less than the cost of a game these days and still be able to play on LIVE all the time. So buy another, and play your burned games on a console you've dedicated to LIVE. THAT! is the only way to stay unbanned for good. It is very doubtful there will ever be a way to play on any M$ network with a modded console.

There are people who have started their own networks for banned consoles and they are getting better all the time. You can update the console offline through usb..etc.
