Mods are reverseable with the Flash Fix utility over at cdfreaks.com. Basically, it just removes the EEPROM check so it can go back from an 811S to a 411S - or so I've been told. I know while playing around with different firmwares on my 451S, I've gone to 851S and back quite a few times and always recovered the drive. MTKFlash 1.80.1 should also be able to recover the drive if nothing else can.

On the topic of media - I just bought a 50 pack spindle of Ridata from Amazon.com for $39.99 with free ground shipping. I figured I can wait for them to come since I still have a good 20+ Ritek's left yet. Great price though - if I would've had the money I would've gotten the 100 pack for $79.99. About the lowest price I've seen around and this is the Grade A Ridata. You can tell because it's the blueish/greyish covered media in the spindle - not the red Ritek media enclosed in shrink-wrap. Talking about the color of their container/holders here, not the media itself - sorry for confusion, another sleepless night. :)

Nepikez - for error-checking on a Lite-On DVD-Burner use a program called Kprobe. You can find it over at club.cdfreaks.com - just search their forums, they got guides on how to set it up and run it as well. Good luck!

I have successfully burnt onto a ritek disc with my 411s firmware FSOJ, no MOD! yay! Now i'm just going to verify the data and such with Kprobe.
::Fingerscrossed for good results::

NepiKez,

The red shrink wrapped RiDATA is the good stuff :)

Here's a whole page of neat tools and tweaks for Lite On burners:

ive "successfully" burned 2 discs using "liquid video

but only one plays back perfect...the other is choppy(and had more data on the disc)

well im goin to attempt to get ahold of either of these as it seems people have had success.

TDK -/+R
PHILIPS +R
MEMOREX +R
RITEK G04
RITEK R03

in no order...but i am interested in the ritek g04 because ive read they are good and i plan on selling these dvds....(i personally made) ...NO im not doing anything illegal.

....................CRAP

Well, I tried to burn a movie @ 2x to see if it would work on my older Panasonic DVD player, no luck. Jumping all around the place, the movie just sucks. Anyone know if this could have something to do with the media, or is my dvd player just too old?

How old is your DVD player? Has it ever played any burned DVDs right? dude, they're so cheap now, you should just go out and buy a new dvd player.

Oriphus...re the piodata discs, ive just bought some locally in birmingham, they are 4x printable and use g04 dye. They seem fine...nice n smooth round the edges and well pressed unlike the traxdata im about to finish.I thought they were ok till i found a few with lightning type patterning on the burning side and seperation around the hub.It seems that certain suppliers/manufacturers are mixing b and c grade with a grade. The guy showed me a few brands that had chipped discs and f%$£"d ones in a spindle of a grade a's,all nicely shrink wrapped.I still think its hit and miss finding a decent CONSISTANT disc tho.By the way these piodatas burn great at 8x and were a tenner for 25
