Why is it that the 360 has netflix downloadable but the ps3 an wii need a disc
I use my 360 anyway but just wondering why it doesn't come downloadable on the others

And the netflix app for android I can tell you won't come out until 4g is standard on all networks and phones support it so don't expect it any time soon

At the time, Netflix was exclusive to Xbox360 but Netflix (I believe) wanted a way for all systems to have the ability to stream, so the discs were created as a loophole in the contract that was for Xbox360 exclusive.

When their contract is up, it will not be renewed and PS3 will be able to have Netflix without the disc, according to the "premium subscription" thing that PS3 will have (whenever they come out).

For Wii however, I'm not sure how that'll be implemented into the system. I assume with just a simple firmware update.

There is also a side reason for the PS3 not having this feature in the XMB...it is in competition (not direct competition) with the Playstion Store video service.

True, but Sony has stated that they would add the Netflix feature into a future firmware update...until they then started talking about a premium PSN subscription service that would include a disc free Netflix service as opposed to a disc based service for non-premium subscribers.

We'll see what happens...though I'm sure this service will be talked about at E3.

I requested mine about a week or two ago. It'll apparently be here today as stated in a Netflix email I received yesterday.

Since the Wii is not an HD system will you be able to stream HD movies and watch it in HD as long as you have Component cables or will it be SD no matter what?

My thoughts exactly. I just got my disc today and I wanted to check out a few movies tonight just to compare it to netflix on the xbox360. The interface is decent. Will report back on the movie quality. I don't really have a good means for comparison though bc I use hdmi for xbox360 and only av cables for Wii. Time to upgrade my cables if it will means better quality movie playback.

Sony also stated that they would never remove OtherOS support...I think I would believe a Chinese politician before I believe anything Sony says.

Got my Wii disc in yesterday, worked fine. I popped it in, I was asked to login to my account on a PC and type in an activation code. They say up to 3 minutes but it took about 30 seconds after I hit "submit" or whatever on the page.

The interface isn't bad at all. If there's a way to search for movies I haven't found it, but you can browse similar movies to some of the ones recently watched, genres, new arrivals, suggested and so forth.

The quality isn't bad at all for composite video on my modest Sony Bravia 32" 720p. I have AT&T 6Mbps DSL [max 5650 normally...grrr]. It's decent but it looks better IMHO when I'm watching newer movies with the PC that's plugged in by VGA/RGB. Older flicks like John Wayne or Andy Griffith era stuff look the same.

When I stop being too cheap to pony up the $20-$30 or so to buy the component video cables, I'll try it and post about it but for now it's all good.

Netflix is awesome.

I got my disk in the mail on tuesday and have watched 4 movies so far and all of them have been great quality and they have not been choppy or have an sound issues or anything. I am very happy thus far with the streaming to the Wii now just need more of a selection. I am not a serious audio/video-a-phile like some of you but on my 50 inch zenith circa 2002 which supports 1080p or 480p (720p also maybe) it looks good but it is just standard definition. I also just use a standard video/audio cable no hdmi or component cable.
