Israel explains iPad ban

On Thursday we reported that the Israeli newspaper Haaretz had reported that the Apple iPad has been blocked from entering Israel, with customs officials confiscating all devices upon entry.
Today, the Israeli Ministry of Communications has elaborated on their reasoning behind the ban.

Maybe the Israeli government realizes that it's probably one of the dumbest products ever made and they just they're just looking out for their people's pockets...

They dont want the children to learn anything or become a country like America. Keep the ignorant faith seeking government in control forever is all that is desired. The product may suck but the citizens need freedom. I truthfully want our soldiers to get the h e double l out of the middle east and let their stupidity cause a self destruction.

You guys are aware that iPods, iPhones, and maybe even Macs are all available and popular in Israel? I'm pretty sure they are. My friend who lives there said they are. And Shaf, gtfo.

As for Israel's ban, thank god for the removal of the misconceived son of an iPod Touch and a Macbook Pro. I'm a Mac user, and iPad, I do not approve.

This is strange.
I don't believe for a second the Israeli govt are banning the iPad because it is a fail product, that is fatuous reasoning.
Maybe they are concerned about the ready exposure to international news... but I doubt that too.
They may be just protecting the advertising revenue of local publications.

Any apple product should be banned anywhere in the WORLD. Two reasons why.
1. Over hyped product (useless and should be banned immediately).
2. Over priced product (only worth a dime)
As you can see the word "over" stands out.
I recommend the Israeli for banning apple products. They should ban steve jobs too.

Hell no and half the the time people think it is.
Tho in truth like any other place half of is faults/issues are their own making.
Personally I think they need a bit less world wide support, other countries need to see them in a more faliable/human light, IE you guys need to cut back or get out because what and how you are doing things can only be sustained for so long before it it falls apart. And I can say he same damn thing to the US about their inability to regulate the finical market, we lost 8 trillion to them for what? inflation? a depreciated dollar? higher interest rates and lower limits from credit card companies? Holy fck at least Israel can manage to take care of its own damn country....even if they fail at other things..........

the israeli governtment is currput to its core and has been for 62 years. not once has it given a damn about human care, and infact its comparable to china. and no i am not praising any of the governments of the countries around it, and infact if there is anyone government who is most like israels, bar china, its saudia arabia. all 3 couldnt give a crap about human care or human life.
the US needs to stop pumping the billions/trillions into israel and we need to boycott them, but it wont happen will it?

Can you please back up these statements where you say the Israeli government does not care about human life? From my standpoint (I have been to Israel twice), the government is protecting the lives of millions of Jews (and some muslims, christians) every day with their actions.
I do not know where you live Shaf, but remind me the last time your next door neighboring country threatened to nuke you off the planet once they are finished creating nuclear arms.
As for boycotting the Israeli government? Why? We don't boycott France or England, why is Israel any worse? (They aren't)
