i have a 40g cech01 with a busted one lens laser
is there a way to convert it to a dual lens? i have a spare dual lens in hand and would rather use that. any suggestion?

NO, the drives are different if you were thinking of just fitting the laser to the old drive,

also the drive board has to be matched to the motherboard, so you can't just fit the whole dual lens drive unit to your PS3,

and the drive board from your PS3 won't fit into the later drive unit as the ribbon cable connectors are totally different

so your only option is too buy a single lens laser, sorry

so replacing the whole drive is out of question too cause i would have to get a motherboard to go along with it.

i heard all the one lens lasers are refurbs cause they are not made anymore
