Police in Denver have released a surveillance video showing a thief stealing an iPad from a man leaving the mall, at the same time ripping off part of his left pinky finger.
The victim, Bill Jordan, was buying the tablet device at the Cherry Creek Mall for a co-worker.

I do not need to see what it is like to be in Afghanistan and be taught a lesson about being discriminated everyday. Trust me, I know it and live it. It makes me kind of sick to think about how hard that kid must have been pulling to get a finger torn off. I guess it was too much of a shock for the older guy to grab with the other hand or stop resisting the force. I don't think the IPAD is worth going to jail, stealing, and especially harming someone for. I hope he gets caught at some point because this was probably not his first and only crime.
Which brings me to my second comment, I say that it is probably not his first crime because of his fearlessness and determination, but someone would probably consider it a comment based on race.
I am not of a single race and have never been comfortable identifying myself when asked. I think that it is a shame that labels are often applied to articles such as these. It is not uncommon for the title "black" teenager, or "black" male and so on to accompany the description. For a society supposedly against racial segregation it is difficult to recognize that when we are so often told whether we like it or not what an individual's race is. It is not only negatively racist people or organizations that do this either. Even proponents of unity will fall back to a labeling system, perhaps because of habit or because of a need to distinguish an individual. Such as celebrations in response to America's first "black" president. The label was applied to Mr. Obama equally from those that approved as those that did not. Continued emphasis on recognizing race as a distinguishing characteristic will forever stall the progress toward unity and equality, this goes for positive and negative connotations.
The kid in this article is a criminal, and perhaps an insensitive human being, we do not know how he felt after learning he removed a mans finger, but if I was stealing something and discovered blood and flesh I would probably have dropped the item there and ran to separate myself from the gore.

True, but also look at some of the reasons for this fact.
Look at the conditions a lot of them grow up in not only that but the education received comp. If they were to live in white suburbia where everything is sunshine and roses I'm pretty sure they would turn out completely different. If a person is willing to steal something and rip someones finger off in the process he/she/it is probably a low life scum bucket regardless of whether they are white/black/asian/human/animal.if an animal bites someones finger off they usually get put down.
