Airline Lufthansa offers Apple developer Gray Powell a free beer

article published on 23 April, 2010

The German airline Lufthansa has said today it would fly Apple developer Gray Powell (the guy who lost the iPhone HD) to Munich for free beers, on them. Nicola Lange, the airline's director of marketing and customer relations says she knows "how frustrating it can be to lose personal items, especially when it is such a unique item." Also, because Powell lost the phone in a Beer Garden, ... [ read the full article ]

I don't see the big deal about this one. A new version of the iPhone... What a shocker!!! We all knew it was in the works. Sure it has some sweet new features but what else. Now if they had found a new version of the Nintendo Wii, then that would be something to talk about since there is only one and it's competitors (Playstation 3 and Xbox 360) both have a gazillion versions.

Dude the PS3 has released several consoles now:

20 gig
40 gig
60 gig
80 gig
120 gig
120 gig (slim)
250 gig (slim)

And each are different. There are also special edition systems like Metal Gear solid 4 and what not. Some are backwards compatible, some only have 2 USB ports and some don't have wireless internet. I would definitely list these as being different systems.

The 360 has the Arcade, Pro, and Elite. There are also some with Jasper power cables. Some versions of the Pro have HDMI and some don't not to mention the special addition systems like Modern warfare 2, and splinter cell conviction.

The wii on the other hand has two options (if i remember correctly) black and white. I'm sure you can get it in a variety of colors but there are not hardware differences. You can't even get one with a bigger HDD for crying outloud. Even the DS has evolved.

This is the wrong forum to talk about this stuff I know but 2 PS3's and 3 Xbox 360's? Come on.

Wow...a free flight to germany and free beer! I wouldn't mind pissing off my boss for that...but then my boss isn't satan.

BTW...there is only one xbox 360 and one PS3...they might remove features over time, but they are all the same speed processor, all the same memory, all the same everything, other than the PS2 support on the early PS3s, and different ports on the various different 360 and ps3 consoles. The first PS3s and XboX360s have the same performance and capabilities of the newest ones. As for the hard drives, both consoles have hard drives that are designed to be removed and upgraded by users...this moves them from internal storage like in a PC to external storage, almost like a SD card in a phone...and you wouldn't say that you have a different phone just because it has a different flash card in it.

The iPhone HD clone may hit the market before Apple releases the product.

You are right but I would say I have a different version of that phone and so would the company who made it. The 8 gig iPhone is not the same as the 16 gig sure they are both iPhones but there are differences about them and they even have a different SKU number. As far as the consoles are concerned, these changes are what make them different versions of the same system, but they are hardly the same system. To say the original 60 gig PS3 is the same as the current 250 gig PS3 is completely wrong. They are the same system as far as playing PS3 games is concerned but that's it. The different versions of the PS3 are different from each other. This is why they had different attributes and cost different prices. Take your 120 gig fat PS3 back to wal-mart and see if you can exchange it for they new slim one... i bet you can't. Oh, and who said anything about one having a better processor, speed, graphics, or anything like that?

That is how apple defines different versions of the iPhone...newer iPhones have more features, faster chips, etc. In inverse, newer PS3 versions have fewer features (and over time, features are removed from the older ones). Yes, the 8gb iPhone is a different device than a 16GB iPhone...but that is not removable memory...not even by voiding the warantee; the only way to remove the memory from an iPhone is by melting the solder.

The only difference (other than appearance) between the late-model phats and the slims is the size, price, etc...they have the same number of ports, the same ram, the same CPU, the same firmware, the same speed drives, etc...since FW 3.21, there is no difference.

Yeah, PS2 support sets the originals apart, 4 USB ports sets the originals apart, and the useless memory card reader sets the originals apart, and even the size of the phat vs the slim sets those apart...but hard drive size does not; otherwise my 40GB system with a 500GB hard drive would be more valuable than a slim unit with a 250GB drive.

Oh, and not that I would ever go to walmart, but if I did, why would I try to trade a 120GB phat for a 250GB slim? They would never go for that, the systems don't even look the same.

I didn't say a 120 gig for a 250 slim I meant the 120 slim. But whatever dude, you're right. When Sony comes out with these other systems there is absolutely nothing different between them. All the PS3's are the same and when they are manufactured they don't even go through a different process. The differences you mentioned about the PS3's is what makes them different versions dude. But why should I tell you that? You already know everything.
