article published on 23 April, 2010

Although this story is slightly outside of our niche, it is still particularly interesting. Republicans have come out swinging today, claiming that the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) was too busy watching pornography to properly police the nation's financial system as it collapsed in 2008. Says California Rep. Darrell Issa, the head of the House Oversight and Government Reform ... [ read the full article ]

and you could try to get their paycheck back if you can show that they really didn't do any work... watching porn or updating your facebook at work is nothing else than stealing when you do it 8 hours a day.

I agree with both of you. He was basically stealing from the company. He shouldn't have been given a chance to resign and collect his pension. He should have been fired.

Well....is the same as a regular "Joe" get a Credit Card with X amount of money: The person spend all the money and then just decide to no pay back the money, ever....the only think that happen is: his Credit Score goes down, but who cares as long he do not pay back any money everything is just "Great"...eventually he can get his Credit Score back few years later. Same happen with Bankruptcy.

But this People doing it in a Super Large Way.

I do not talking about this people who works for the SEC....I talking about the people of the Bush Administration who are responsible for switch off this US Federal Government Branch call SEC in 2001 and give Free-Hands to do wherever they want to Wall Street, Banks, etc. The real responsible Co's of this USA Financial crisis; starting win ENRON in 2001 and many others alike.

The Switch Off was made under the Table....with out USA People know it about it...so the Bush Administration can't make disappear this Federal Office, right ?
They only switch them off and keep all the SEC employees on the side out of the ball game.

I do not blame all this SEC employees doing wherever they please; They were more that happy doing nothing and get pay for it, for how many years ?

Not really as screwing up your credit card hurts you more than anyone else, when they screw up finical sectors and companies die and thousands if not millions lose their life savings or most of it due to the greed of a hand full of people.

Sell stock in a company in the morning when the price is up and buy it back in the afternoon when the price drops. The transfer may occur in real time because the purchase or sell never went to the stock exchange. You must wait 3 days after a sell for the money to be available for use. Someone collects interest for 3 days on the funds for each stock transaction.

Well gee,
to me it seems like anouther way to pass the buck on. This report was done it what?? 2008?? We are a quarter way into 2010 now. So if those findings were in 2008 I'm sure the people were dealt with in 2008. true we were already in a downward spiral in 2008, but the way this is being brought up Could this not have stopped the downward spiral of the economy?
NO
there were multiple things that was bringing the economy down.
The new administration if it is so great why has the decline not stopped. Cities and states are now hurting dramatically not just people. Countries are begging for finicial help. And we are going to put all this blame on 16 employees looking at porn?
Oh no we're going to put it all on the Bush administration.
How about the fact that Banks were lending to people that they shouldn't have and were finding a loop hole that allowed them to file morgage insurance.
Or the fact that Ford, GMC, and Dodge pushed SUV's down our throats instead of Fuel efficiant cars which they had recieved grants from the government to do. (Other car manufactors did and they did not need the bail out)
Or people living above their means and living on their credit cards and not their actual money.
If this was truly Just Bush's fault, or the fault of these 16 employees. Then why was Iceland basically claiming bankrupcy. Or China hitting fincial troubles in there what was supposed to be booming towns like Dubai?
People need to stop passing the blame and take a look at the mirror.
Do you really need that second car and have 2 car payments? Why not save cash and buy it out right?
Do ya really need a 3 bedroom house when it's just you and your spouse on a 30 year morgage?
Why not live of your paycheck and not your credit cards.
I won't post the stats, I'll give you a link and let you read for yourselfs. It's really worth a look.

http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-n...istics-1276.php

Hopefully after reading you'll realize that the blame needs to quit being passed around.
It doesn't matter who's at fault. What matters is getting it fixed.
Bush is out of the office so everything should be just perfect now, right Bush Bashers?
And No I don't dislike Obama.
I just want to quit seeing the mud slinging and start seeing the resolution.
So much focus has been put on Healthcare, when the economic crisis wasn't even solved. It had a bandaid put on it and forgotten about. And people started accepting that we were just financially screwed.
So in my eyes it's now very evident that the government cares nothing about helping the fincial world out. But mearly wants to say "We fixed Healthcare" Which still won't be in effect until 2012. At the very EARLIEST.

I agree with you a 100% !

I feel a lot better today that: wherever small thing I buy is with Cash Only or if I buy a big item (High Rate Use Car, New Car, etc) I will do my best to pay for it in around 12 months just to improve my Credit Score.
A +15 years Mortgage is just for the Birds.....if you ask me !

Best to pay cash for a house. You could find a home for $1,000 but those days may be over.

The idea is not to pay cash always. The real point is to build Credit for a Future use....like stop to be an employee for the rest of your life and open your own business, or live a better life and replace the old stuff...etc.

Thank you Mrguss and john_swan,
No obviously we cant all pay cash for a house. What I was mostly regarding to was that most people are in credit card debit because they "HAD" to have that Huge Flat Screen with the Killer Bose surround sound. They had to have all the upgrades on their homes. The had to get the fanciest car. So they used and abused their credit/credit cards.
Also, and this is just a threoy..............
If we get to where we're dependant on our own money and our own selves we won't have to worry about the government stepping in "fixing" things.
The things that the government has set up can be used for the people that actually need it.
(example)(I was out of work for a time in my life and was really suffering. My wife at the time was not medically cleared to drive or work. I ended up getting a speedy job getting minimium wage just to get some fast money. I was able to put provide food and shelter and nesecities but her child was NOT insured. We went to get him on government insurance but was told "You make to much money". Hell I barely could afford food and rent. I ended up working 2 full time jobs and was still free enough to drop off and pick up her son every day from school. Thanks for nothing there government. But that was a long time ago and made me stronger, but also realized that when push comes to shove the government is gonna shove you away and tell you to get lost)
So yeah, save your dollars. Make them count. Cause when you need a bailout it wont happen unless your gonna repay it by giving donations come election times.
Just my cheaper 2 cents

When bank pays you 0.1 percent for the use of your money and you pay them 30 percent for the use of their money. Unless banks change the way they do business you would be best not to deal with them at all. You should consider a credit union.

Banks have been known to shutdown website for maintenance at 11pm so your transaction gets processed after midnight. Banks charge you a fee ($15 - $20) to credit your deposit on the same day. Some banks delay processing payments by mail for a couple of days so they can charge you late fees and increase your interest rate. Payments made on Discover, Sears MasterCard and Sears Visa cards at Sears could be delayed by up to a week. Banks block your account and refuse to accept payment at the local branch. You have no way to make your payment because it must now be paid through western union account. A branch manager of bank can help but the process could take up to a week. Your personal check, cash or Cashiers Check from their own bank will not be accepted as payment. You are late because they refused to accept your payment and take your security because you failed to make a payment ontime. CitiBank closes down teller lines to make people that pay their credit card bill at lunch time on the due date will be posted the next business day. The banks change due dates each month to confuse customer. Ask for a credit card increase in line of credit. They will issue you a second or third credit card each with a different due date that changes month to month. More chance that you will be late on a payment.

Why would you want to deal with these criminals?

@ john_swan:

Thanks for the Info.
I know they are CRIMINALS WITH LICENSE
I deal with Credit Union.

But I have 1 or 2 Credit Cards, trying to give them as less possible I can give to them to keep up with my Credit Score. A System that the Banks create in the First Place to have control of our money and us.
But Now the whole Credit Score Game is affecting people even MORE to find a Good Job; 'cos the Employers are checking today from all new hire people's Credit Scores and even them Face Book Page, before they give a Job to us.

And I think is a 100% illegal to do this: What the Credit Score have to do for us to have the right to get a Job ?

But if the Government of USA do not do anything.....this new others CRIMINALS Employer's Companies and Corporations will gonna keep doing this BS with us....'cos I think this employers have investments on Credit Cards too....
...and the whole thing is just a BIG MAFIA !

Between the Government, the Corporations, Wall Street, Banks, Credit Cards, etc, etc. I just feel like dancing with the Sharks if I tell you the real truth.

Thanks God I do not buy Crapple Products or have any Debt. "0"

Well said. Keep your eye on the ball, folks.
A seasoned tennis player begins to track the ball with there eyes at the point of impact with their opponent's racket. They immediately start to move on an intercept course to return the ball. They focus on the ball during the match.

These government employees appear to be unsupervised. Where was the management team? Where was the congressional oversight? Why were these employees and managers not fired?

The answers simple they were all to busy having a ham shank !!!

Seriously its funny this all comes to light so shortly after old Goldman Sax was caught with their pants around their feet after collapsing the sub prime market.

Saying the primary cause of the global credit crunch is due to some bloke who walks funny and has clammy palms is funny but never the less one of the most rediculious things ive read of late.
