If you didn't mod it, then you still would require soldering skills. Just because someone else did it, would not matter. You need to pull the keys, which requires soldering.

only if its a rev.2 drive.
if it is pre LT you are fine..
you will need a connect kit to retrieve keys though.
can you play all backups ? or just upto a certain wave?

hi, im not sure what rev drive it is, can you tell me how i can find that out,
the drive that playes the backup games and it playes upto wave 6 games with the activator disk,
but i need to extract the key from that drive and copy it over to the new drive i have bought becuase the drive that is in the xbox is not working properly,
i think this kit would be right,
* 1 x CK3 Pro
* 1 x CK3 Pro Probe
* 1 x Sata Cable
* 1 x Usb Cable
im not to sure if this would help me extract and copy the key from the old drive to the new one,

Wrong! All Lite-on Drives require soldering in order to do a full dump. Using the probe 707 method is no longer the proper method. It doesn't dump the laser calibration, therefore causing laser reading problems and even burning the laser out quick.

No. He already stated that the drive was already modded. Which means it probably has iX 1.6 or earlier on it. That doesn't require soldering. Since the drive was already modded, more than likely the original FW wasn't dumped so it would be pointless to use the new extraction method on the drive (soldering, switch/22 ohm resistor, vampire, probe2, etc).
Only virgin LiteOn drives require soldering. (Exception: a LiteOn flashed with iX LT and you do not have the key).
If infact the drive has iX 1.6 on it, he can hook it up to his PC and dump over SATA with the "Dummy from iXtreme" feature in JF. If for some reason it has iX LT on it and he doesn't have the key, at that point he would need to use the new extraction method.

You'll need to check out this tutorial. Flashed LiteOn
As for the CK3, it will work to power your drive. If you are going to purchase, you should get the Probe2 rather than the Probe1. That will allow you to dump future LiteOn drives.
