Six sites make RIAA's 'notorious illegal sites' list

article published on 20 May, 2010

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has announced, jointly with the Congressional members of the International Anti-Piracy Caucus (IAPC) the first ever Notorious Illegal Sites list, calling out the six most "notorious" sites used for unauthorized downloads of music, movies and other copyrighted works. Additionally, the groups named Russia, Mexico, China, Canada and Spain ... [ read the full article ]

I'm glad to see so much attention and resources being spent to catch and stop piracy. Thank goodness there's no more murder, child abuse/abduction/molestation, rampant violence, abuse of civil rights, sex slavery, drug dealing.....oh, sorry, I was dreaming of a perfect world again. My bad.

According to Wikipedia: Baidu, Inc. (Chinese: 百度; pinyin: Bǎidù, NASDAQ: BIDU), simply known as Baidu...is a Chinese and Japanese search engine for websites, audio files, and images.

Yes, it's a search engine. RapidShare makes some since as a lot of pirated stuff is hosted there but RapidShare won their court case according to a recent article posted here on aD.

Unless their "legal info" is lying I don't see why they listed mp3fiesta. It says: "In accordance with the agreement Site Owner pays license fees for all materials downloaded from the Site subject to the International Copyright Law. Authors, Artists and other Copyright holders including major labels are paid their fair dues.".

Does mp3fiesta not pay the RIAA or does the RIAA hate the small amount they get from mp3fiesta in addition to them having DRM-free music?

Also, what the heck do they mean LimeWire was "the most significant theft machine"? Torrents have been around, and easy to find, long before LimeWire became popular.

In addition all LimeWire does is access the Gnutella P2P network. LimeWire itself is like an entrance to a freeway, you can use a different on ramp (client) to access Gnutella but the LimeWire on ramp (client) is the most popular one.

Hey guys, thanks for the tip on RMX4U.com. I never heard of that web site before. I took a look and it's a great site. I'm going to register and check it out more closely. They seem to offer a lot of very useful information. I should probably look at Baidu more closely too. I've always been dismissive of that site because it is based in China, but seeing it included here makes me think that they probably can offer a lot in terms of searching for things that you might have trouble finding elsewhere.

OK...nice to know RIAA black list; But I think they should be make the list a lot bigger to help us out to know what we do not know: THANKS RIAA !

RIAA can make his black list as bigger as they can or can't; But you know what ?
No body will hear you, 'cos you are not special and the Governments are not working for you !
They are more busy working in theirs own scams with the "Big Corp. Boys", like how to get away with taxes, rip people off using wall street, Oil Co's, etc, etc......

Since RIAA is too busy on figure out how to rip people off like everybody else.
RIAA want you to go to RIAA web-site only....Handle your money to them and they will guaranty you "a break" if you do wherever they told you so.
I bet you after you just do that....they will be your BFF.

Now If you do not want to give your money to them.....well: Just donate your Money to me !

The Recording Industry Association of America doesn't have much business stopping anything you mentioned. What I find weird is how the RIAA lists 6 websites as ones that aren't even based in the USA.

Piracy is a legitimate concern of those record companies, but the way they've been handling it has been just plain unacceptable.

If I was running a record company, I'd just find torrents of my produced music, download them, log the ip's connected, then locate those ips and charge them all a modest $10, not a $2,000+ settlement.

We have a lot more serious problems in the USA too (Among them the same drug laws that are hurting mexico so much)...but this is a tech site...so we don't comment on governmental and corporate lies, scams, crimes, etc...unless they have something to do with technology.

For example,
A Senator rapes a school girl = not for afterdawn
A Senator rapes a school girl and takes a video with his iPhone = afterdawn front page
Innocent people killed by police = afterdawn does not care
Innocent people being killed by robotic cars = afterdawn gold.
