A blow dryer may fix it temporarily but in order to properly melt the solder you're going to have to use a heat gun or a bga rework station to reflow.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
Agree with MrGreaser, a hair dryer does not get hot enought to melt the solder so it prolly wont work. It may soften up the solder and get the contacts working again but your then gonna get oxidisation so you need a proper relow or a heatgun job.
ok i tried the blow dryer today. after leaving it over the chip for about twenty minutes i got the 360 to boot up fine. then i turned it off and turned it back on and got e74 again. so now i took out the fans and turned it on and let it heat up the mobo, then after it overheated and got 2 red rings, i turned it off and stuck a stack of pennies over the hana and put the shroud over them. will this help or did i just bone myself by letting the mobo get that hot?
I would try a reflow if I were you. If not, w00ly has a nice heat gun video guide in his sig that works wonders. I don't think you hurt your 360 overheating it (2 red rings). It gets much more hot than that when doing a reflow or heat gun fix.

thing is, i dont know what a reflow is or how to do one.

I bought a heat gun from Harbor Freight for $10 about 6 months ago, in case my Wagner ever went out. It works great.
+1 fixed a hell of a lot of xboxs with the heat gun fix. Unfortuently, when I first started doing mine, w00ly hadnt written his guide yet so i killed a couple of boxes overheating. Just follow w00ly's guide and you should be fine.
