well i made this probe: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/767988

i just have a few questions: 1. Where do i clip the alligator clip to get the 5 volts of power?
2. How do i know which port it is in?
3. Does the spring need to go in the hole or what? and is anything better than the spring??

Thanks

Use the Red wire on a PC power supply

Which port what is in?

The spring goes in to the r707 hold on the 7xxx series lite on PCB. A spring is prolly best, but I suppose you could use a paper clip or something similar.

I didnt use a aligator clip on my probe, I used a male molex apaptor and wired up the 5 volts from there.

Also, if you look your COM port is the 9 pin mini D type rather than 15 pins your VGA plugs in to so it sounds like you have the right plug. Ill see if I can get some pics of mine uploaded after my tea.

how would you use the molex instead of the alligator clip? did you use a different tutorial?

I use the clip as I have the Connectivity Kit. So I use the clip to attach to it. All you need is the wire to connect to a 5v source. So, depending on what source you have available will depend on how you attach it. It's all up to you.

And I used a spring from a pen because it was readily available. You can use what ever fits in the 707 hole, be it a spring, needle, staple, etc.
