Hey guys, I've had a system sitting around for a while with the old blade style, and just never had time to do anything with it... so I finally went out, and got the parts needed for a jtag... so I'm gonna attempt it, hopefully with some help & direction from some of you pro's out there.
I've got a xenon board with 6717 dash. I need to know exactly what wires go where on the board, and which wire corresponds with pin # on the LPT port.
I've seen some of the tuts out there, and have a good idea of what needs to be done, but am just not sure which is the most updated way of doing things... I've seen connections made from mobo to RF board.. and other sites that show no such connection?
So if someone could nudge me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated!
I don't mind soldering individual connections to the board itself... I am familiar with soldering... and I've got an older pc with an lpt port.. so that shouldn't be a problem.
but I'm still a bit confused, like i said I have the old blade style dash, but when I flash xbr, will that update me to the newer dash? I also heard of having to remove a resistor so that the console cannot update any further...

If you install XBR3, once you have flashed your NAND then you will be on the latest 8xxx series dash, you can do FreeBOOT for the 9xxx series dash.
The resistor you need to remove to stop the updates is the R9T3 one.
hey miketrev, thanks for the post.. yeah I'm only doing 1 console.. I have another new console with the 7371 dash, but don't want to jtag it... yet.
thanks for the info on the different dashes available... is there any difference between them?

i know that its not always exploitable.... but its a brand new system, and I don't know if I want to tear it apart, and solder wires to the board just to find out that its not exploitable.... so I'll probably hold off on touching that system for now....
I'm gonna start jtagging it this weekend I think.... that is if I can find the time.. with 3 kids in the house, xbox time isn't always available... =(

You don't need to solder any wires. You can solder the boards, or wait a few weeks for the solderless dump method to be released.
