Need help with Playstation Network connection

I have a NETGEAR Wireless-N 150 router model WNR1000,
Whenever I am playing MW2 on my ps3 signal will drop down to extremely low signal. it is frustrating because i always get kicked from games because im lagging. i have tried moving the router, messing with the settings on the ps3, and installing new firmware on the router. when I do the connection test all three pass but it will not load the upload and download speeds. i have no idea what to do, do i just need a new router? or is there something im doing wrong?

If you can plug it in with a CAT5 cable, that would probably be a good idea.

Did you try DD-WRT firmware? That isn't the greatest router, but the software might be worse than the hardware; DD-WRT has made many junk routers into great routers.

i went to DD-WRT and looked for software but they had nothing for a WNR1000. and im not quite sure wat a cat5 cable is. could you please explain? it is very much appreciated.

Cat5 is just a network cable; it looks like a phone cord but with 8 pins.

Sorry about the false hope on DD-WRT; it has been on their "Work in Progess" list forever; I figured it would be ready by now...but it seems it never will be.

i dont know if it will matter but my router is plugged in directly to the modem because my dad still has windows 98 and wont update and i dont know if maybe that could be my problem.

it has nothimg to do wit dads computer
posssibly need a better download&upload speed from your provider if its laggin all the time
or the distance you are away from your router

you would be better connecting with your lan cable direct from modem/router to your playstation

You can also try adding the ps3 to the DMZ in the router settings. The router should be plugged right into the modem.
