oh no, I got a hitachi drive.

kk, i'll flash it using the jungleflasher guide but just wondering...since I can't flash it with iXtreme LT Lite Touch 1.7 Firmware, I have to flash it with iXtreme 1.6 right? Does that mean I'm much more likely to get banned on live than a Lite-on with 1.7?

i have another xbox 360 with a lite-on that i could flash with 1.7, should i just swap drives?

thanks

ok cool got it

hitachis can only get ixtreme 1.51 firmware, they can play wave 6 games

are they as stealthy as 1.7 lite-ons?

No

BTW, there is no 1.7, it went from 1.61 to LT

I know a couple of people who are still on live with this firmware...probably been over a year or so? They're fine. I think they've done a good job checking their titles through ABGX360. Good luck.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

yeah I don't know why Hitachi gets ragged on by other people. I'm on 1.51 since Feb and still going strong. Don't have to worry about waves! As long as you stealth check through AGBX and SSV2 patch I think you'll be fine

Because they are the worst drives for the laser dying / not being powerful enough.

Fair enough, but they are also one of the easiest to flash. I didn't need any probe or extra crap

No really, they are the worst to flash, with different revisions and the process always seems to differ slightly. Plus once you can easy brick a hitachi, the others are no so easy.

Don't get me wrong tho, they still do the job and I will keep mine until its stops working.

Alright I give in.. I guess I am being biased since I own one :P. But i bought a 2005 stock system with Hitachi drive used and have been lucky enough to run into no problems. Best advice to people out there is to stick to Verb media, always stealth check, and I always patch to SSV2 (even older wave games). Unfortunately, for me.. i've been addicted to MW2 and play it religiously almost every night on XBL. ugh. No ban! I also have several other games ive played on live and off live too since Feb. I went against the suggestion of flashing back to stock for the dashboard upgrade as well. Maybe MS sees hitachi as irrelevant now lol.

Hitachi? What's that? Never heard of it. I used to own a Shitachi until I swapped it with a BenQ.

I love the SIG eebeejay! Yeah, hitachi drives are the black sheep drives nowadays. I too have an old 2005 model that is still kicking. I've got another 3 or 4 that are useless (bricked). I was fortunate to make it through the last ban wave with that hitachi console (1.51). I play at least once a week, but always use ssv2 on verbatim DL media. I'm sure I'll eventually get flagged, but I'm hoping to get past the next ban wave. Wishful thinking LOL
