What drive is it? Hitachi's sometimes need the POT tweak, you should always attempt to clean the laser first though. Also is the problem on backup games or originals?
You can also buy new lasers on ebay pretty cheap. Adjusting the POT will buy you time, but if you have to adjust the POT, it means your laser is going out. If you have a samsung or hitachi, I'd replace it with a benq or liteon

IMHO, it doesn't mean the laser is dying. Its just the drives are calibrated to read pressed disks, not burned disks. My first xbox flash was a hitachi and I had to POT Calibrate that. Its still running now a year and a half on.
I do agree with the BenQ comments, if you have the money buy one.
Man i have the same problem.its a lite on,it keeps openin though the flash went well.now i am thinkin of inducing rrod on it and take it back.so anybody who knows how i can make a one red light to two please help.i already back to stock.thanks
