Question for liteon

I have resently grabbed the keys wrote and outroed a liteon 74850c drive
My problem is my burnt games arent playing and i know they work
My games work in a samung with 1.61
Im pretty sure the dvd key works cause im still able to play retail games
Can anyone help me figure out this problem im having?
btw i installed the ix-ltv1.1-748.bin is this the right firmware to write?
i also didnt cut any traces cause i read that 74850c drives dont need them if im sayying offline
odly enough i know i flashed and rewrote firmware because when the burnt game loads it sometimes says play game but no pictures appear

Sounds like it maybe a media problem, are you using verbatims?

That will be your problem, some drives read better than others and memorex are the crappiest media ever. Are you able to install the game to your hard drive? My guess is that you wont be able to as your drive is having problems reading your disks.

That will be your problem, some drives read better than others and memorex are the crappiest media ever. Are you able to install the game to your hard drive? My guess is that you wont be able to as your drive is having problems reading your disks.
Samung ts-h943 installs my games flawlessly i dont understand how the older drive is able to read better it really boggles me

You could prolly POT tweak you drives laser to make it stronger, but that will reduce the life expectancy of your drive. I wouldn't recommend doing this.
Some drives are better than others, they will all run on original pressed disks but a backup disk is harder for the laser to read. The higher quality disk, then easier the drive can read it. This is the reason peeps will tell you memorex are crap, because they are.

what happens if i spoof the drive would a slash and soldier still work and possibly increase my reading because i was reading that doing soldier work on the drives increase the read and write of the dvd flash
or can i even do this now that it wrote "dummy" files

My problem was my samung has bad heatsinks and the dvd drive is loud plus it doesnt support hdmi
But i mean if i spoof my noicey samung into a liteon now i got the keys but i dunt want to i made a homemade tool and stay up all night wishing this dvd drive would be better x.x =D

I recently repaired a Lite-on 74850c that was experiencing the same problem you described. My retail discs would register on the system dashboard but backups would just display 'tray open' after a few seconds of reading.
Eventually, retail discs became unreadable as well. I simply purchased a replacement laser and once it was installed the drive was as good as brand new.
Faulty Lite-on drives exist but if you have the 'know-how' it's a pretty simple fix.
By the way, replacement lasers are extremely inexpensive. You can find them on eBay for less than $10 (s&h included). To some, it's more just a matter of waiting for it to be delivered.

wait till i can soldier it cause i heard benqs have laser settings etc that dont come off it without the traces being cut im not gonna use it till then i have two xboxs so why would i ruin one for the use of its hdmi

I bet if you get Verbatims, it will work! I would highly suggest this before messing round with the laser itself.
